<strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Trustees Election Results<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Trustees elections were held during the 75 th General Meeting in<br />

Phoenix, Arizona, May 15-18.<br />

Mark Mooney, assistant chief <strong>of</strong> inspections for the Massachusetts Department <strong>of</strong> Safety, was<br />

re-elected to a three-year term on the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Trustees as second vice chairman. He was elected to<br />

<strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> membership in 1998 <strong>and</strong> to the board position in 2001.<br />

Mr. Mooney has more than 20 years’ experience in the boiler <strong>and</strong> pressure vessel industry. Before his<br />

current position, he served as boiler operator, shift supervisor, <strong>and</strong> chief engineer for Bechtel-Semass<br />

Operations. He joined the state in 1996. Previously, he was an instructor for L.J. Technical <strong>and</strong> a<br />

service engineer for Mooney Engineering.<br />

He holds <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Commission No. 12062.<br />

Joel T. Amato, chief boiler inspector for the state <strong>of</strong> Minnesota, was elected to the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Trustees<br />

as member at large for a three-year term.<br />

Mr. Amato has been employed as chief inspector with the Minnesota Department <strong>of</strong> Labor <strong>and</strong> Industry<br />

since 1999. He was elected to <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> membership in October 1999.<br />

He was employed for several years with Stroh’s Brewery as a power plant operator <strong>and</strong> with Kemper<br />

Inspection <strong>and</strong> Hartford Steam <strong>Boiler</strong> Company as a boiler inspector before joining the state in 1999.<br />

He served in the US Navy for more than four years as a boiler technician, receiving two letters <strong>of</strong><br />

commendation <strong>and</strong> the Good Conduct medal.<br />

He holds <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Commission No. 11907 with “A” <strong>and</strong> “B” endorsements. v<br />
