Order for <strong>SMS</strong> <strong>Siemag</strong> from Indonesia<br />
<strong>PT</strong>. <strong>Gunung</strong> <strong>orders</strong> <strong>electric</strong> <strong>arc</strong> <strong>furnace</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>ladle</strong> <strong>furnace</strong><br />
<strong>PT</strong>. <strong>Gunung</strong>, Indonesia, has placed an order with <strong>SMS</strong> <strong>Siemag</strong>,<br />
Germany, for the supply of an ARCCESS ® <strong>electric</strong> <strong>arc</strong> <strong>furnace</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>ladle</strong> <strong>furnace</strong> for the new steelmaking plant complex in Bekasi,<br />
Indonesian province of West Java.<br />

The <strong>furnace</strong>s are rated for an annual production of 1.2 million t. The<br />
range of charge materials for the <strong>electric</strong> <strong>arc</strong> <strong>furnace</strong> includes scrap,<br />
HBI <strong>and</strong> hot metal. With its new equipment, <strong>PT</strong>. <strong>Gunung</strong> will produce<br />
high-quality steel <strong>and</strong> supply the slab caster also ordered from<br />
<strong>SMS</strong> <strong>Siemag</strong> with liquid steel.<br />
<strong>SMS</strong> <strong>Siemag</strong>'s scope of supply includes the engineering, the mechanical<br />
<strong>and</strong> hydraulic equipment plus the X-Pact ® <strong>electric</strong>al <strong>and</strong><br />
automation systems which will be commissioned according to the<br />
proven "Plug & Work" concept.<br />
Commissioning of the <strong>furnace</strong>s is scheduled for the middle of 2013.<br />
Electric <strong>arc</strong> <strong>furnace</strong>s of the ARCCESS ® series are optimized for the<br />
highly efficient use of <strong>electric</strong>al <strong>and</strong> chemical energy. The <strong>electric</strong> <strong>arc</strong><br />
<strong>furnace</strong> will be equipped with the latest generation of the patented<br />
SIS (<strong>SMS</strong> Injection System) oxygen injection system, which combines<br />
innovative injection <strong>and</strong> burner technologies. This concept

provides its worth through high productivity while keeping production<br />
costs low.<br />
At the Bekasi works, <strong>PT</strong>. <strong>Gunung</strong> operates a long-product line for the<br />
production of sections <strong>and</strong> wire rods, as well as a flat-product line for<br />
the production of heavy plates <strong>and</strong> pipes. All major production lines<br />
were supplied by companies of the <strong>SMS</strong> group.<br />
