Asking More from Less
The Ascent is a
push-to-operate
mechanical lift
that does not
require electricity.
Home size, office
size, and the use of
space is changing.
People are opting for smaller
homes, which in turn, reduce
costs associated with interior and
exterior maintenance, repair, and
replacement. Businesses, schools,
and hospitals too, are doing
more with fewer resources—and
in smaller spaces—to keep costs
down. Remodeling to achieve
more is the case for many as we
adapt to having less.
Accuride’s Ascent push-tooperate
mechanical lift offers a
solution to the rising demand for the economical
use and multitasking of space. Designers are
incorporating the lift in new and interesting ways
as they design small computer or television screens
into all sorts of cabinetry and casework.
The Ascent has a slim and compact design that
requires just a small envelope of space. This makes
it a good fit in residential applications such as
concealable screens tucked into desks in kids’
rooms, the addition of a home office, or a computer
corner in the kitchen. Whether it is a workstation
for household projects, homework, web surfing, or
to watch movies, the Ascent helps bring efficient
multi-tasking to many areas of the home.
In commercial and institutional environments, the
Ascent is used to carry touch screens or monitors
for video surveillance, or to deliver training or
status information in customer service kiosks and
counters. Mobile or stationary classrooms, hospital
reception and nursing stations, or business offices
and conference rooms are other busy environments
that benefit by the ability to conceal screens when
activities are completed.
One of the aspects of the Ascent that is an
advantage with respect to retrofits or remodels,
... mobile classrooms and
offices, customer service
kiosks, reception desks,
nursing stations, and
conference facilities...
is that it does not require the use of power for
operation. Its movement occurs through spring
tensioning that is counterbalanced with weights.
This creates smooth, controlled, and customized
movement. To raise screens, the lift is activated with
a light push on the top of the unit. This releases a
latch and the unit rises to a fully extended position
in about 2 seconds. To conceal screens, press the
top of the lift column until the unit lowers into the
cabinet and latches into the closed position.
Here is an installed lift shown from above. As you
can see, it doesn't take much room to incorporate
this compact mechanism.
