Overview The Whipps Cross Vocational Training scheme offers new graduates a comprehensive postgraduate training programme
as part of the DF1 curriculum for general dental practice. A variety of teaching and training strategies are used during the
study days to enhance the educational experience and to help participants prepare for the challenges of general dental
practice.
Established in 1990, the scheme draws on the experiences of its experienced trainers, former trainees some of whom
return to provide the educational input to the study days and other acclaimed speakers all of whom together with the
commitment of the administratuve team have contributed to the success of the Scheme over the years. The programme
director favours a learner-centred approach to education within the educational architecture of the London Deanery.
The course is intellectually stimulating with a focus of practical teaching which makes for a rewarding DFT year.
The Scheme has access to the London Dental Education Centre (LonDEC) in central London with its state-of-the-art,
multi-media, hands-on facilities and also newly established facilities at Northwick Park Hospital.
