<strong>Grinder</strong> <strong>Pump</strong> <strong>Installation</strong><br />
Sequence <strong>of</strong> Events<br />
1. The RESIDENT shall notify the CITY REPRESENTATIVE (Walter Hardin or<br />
Ronald Rackley) at 817-237-6890 <strong>of</strong> intent to connect to the low-pressure sewer<br />
system and request an initial site survey for the location <strong>of</strong> the grinder pump and<br />
discharge line.<br />
2. The CITY REPRESENTATIVE will then arrange a meeting at the site between<br />
the CITY REPRESENTATIVE, the RESIDENT and/or the<br />
PLUMBER/ELECTRICIAN. At the conclusion <strong>of</strong> the meeting all will have agreed<br />
on the location <strong>of</strong> the grinder pump station, the grinder pump control panel, and<br />
the discharge line route.<br />
3. The RESIDENT shall then pay the required sewer tap and impact fees by<br />
contacting Water Applications at 817-392-8250.<br />
4. The CITY REPRESENTATIVE shall then request a site survey to be<br />
completed by the CITY’S SURVEYOR. The CITY’S SURVEYOR shall survey<br />
the location <strong>of</strong> the discharge line and grinder pump station, develop easement<br />
dedication documents and forward them to the CITY REPRESENTATIVE.<br />
5. The CITY REPRESENTATIVE shall forward the easement dedication<br />
documents to the RESIDENT/OWNER for execution.<br />
6. The RESIDENT/OWNER shall sign and have notarized the easement<br />
documents and return them to the CITY REPRESENTATIVE. The CITY<br />
REPRESENTATIVE shall file the easement documents at the Tarrant County<br />
Court House for record.<br />
7. Upon completion <strong>of</strong> the installation <strong>of</strong> the sewer main and service connection<br />
the CITY REPRESENTATIVE shall issue a Sewer Connection notice to the<br />
RESIDENT informing him/her that they may now proceed with permitting and the<br />
required modifications to the RESIDENT’S onsite system to accept the<br />
installation <strong>of</strong> the grinder pump.
8. The RESIDENT shall either contract with a licensed plumber and electrician<br />
or may elect to do the plumbing work himself if the property is a valid homestead.<br />
The CITY REPRESENTATIVE will provide an Application for Building Permit<br />
Document necessary to obtain the electrical and plumbing permits, which require<br />
the RESIDENT’S signature. The RESIDENT/PLUMBER/ELECTRICIAN shall<br />
then acquire permits from the DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT.<br />
9. The RESIDENT/ELECTRICIAN shall set the electrical disconnect switch at the<br />
grinder pump control panel location and provide conduit and wiring to the<br />
disconnect switch. The RESIDENT/ELECTRICIAN shall then request a final<br />
electrical inspection from the DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT. The<br />
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT will inspect, final out the work and provide the<br />
RESIDENT/ ELECTRICAN with a blue card as pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> final electrical inspection<br />
and approval.<br />
10. The RESIDENT/PLUMBER shall then uncover the sewer line at proposed<br />
points <strong>of</strong> grinder pump connection. This is necessary to allow the<br />
CONTRACTOR to determine the amount <strong>of</strong> fall required and the depth <strong>of</strong> the<br />
grinder pump installation.<br />
11. The RESIDENT shall then contact the CITY REPRESENTATIVE and inform<br />
him that the electrical work has been completed and approved; that the Plumbing<br />
Permit necessary to connect the house into the grinder pump and abandon the<br />
septic system has been issued and that they are ready to have the grinder pump<br />
installed.<br />
12. The CITY REPRESENTATIVE will conduct a site inspection; verify that the<br />
electrical work has been properly inspected, that sewer tap and impact fees have<br />
been paid, that there is a valid plumbing permit present and that the site is ready<br />
for the CONTRACTOR to begin grinder pump installation work.<br />
13. The CITY REPRESENTATIVE will then issue a notice to proceed to the<br />
CONTRACTOR.<br />
14. The CONTRACTOR shall install the grinder pump and discharge line and<br />
shall connect the grinder pump control panel to the electrical disconnect switch.<br />
15. The CONTRACTOR will then request a final electrical inspection from the<br />
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT. The DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT will<br />
inspect, final out the work and provide the CONTRACTOR with a blue card as<br />
pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> final electrical inspection and approval.<br />
16. The CONTRACTOR/EI2 will then water test the pump and discharge line.<br />
Upon successful completion <strong>of</strong> testing the CITY REPRESENTATIVE shall<br />
compile a punch list for any clean-up and restoration work required by the<br />
CONTRACTOR. The CONTRACTOR and RESIDENT shall acknowledge receipt
<strong>of</strong> a copy <strong>of</strong> the punch list by signing the punch list. The CITY<br />
REPRESENTATIVE shall notify the RESIDENT that the grinder pump and low<br />
pressure system have been tested and approved and that the RESIDENT may<br />
now connect to the system.<br />
17. The RESIDENT/PLUMBER shall then install the lines necessary to connect<br />
the existing on-site system to the grinder pump. The RESIDENT/PLUMBER<br />
shall then request a rough-in inspection from the CITY REPRESENTATIVE for<br />
the plumbing work completed. The CITY REPRESENTATIVE will inspect,<br />
approve the work and provide the RESIDENT/ PLUMBER with a green card as<br />
pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> rough-in plumbing inspection and approval.<br />
18. The grinder pump/low-pressure sewer system can now be operated by the<br />
RESIDENT.<br />
19. The CONTRACTOR shall place sod similar to the existing grass around the<br />
grinder pump installation and the connection to the existing service assembly.<br />
The CONTRACTOR shall repair/replace any existing features on the property<br />
that were affected by their work. The RESIDENT/PLUMBER shall be<br />
responsible for any site restoration work required as a result <strong>of</strong> their work.<br />
20. The RESIDENT/PLUMBER shall then contact a licensed waste hauler and<br />
request that the existing septic tank be pumped out. The waste hauler will<br />
provide the RESIDENT with an invoice verifying that the tank was pumped out.<br />
The RESIDENT/PLUMBER shall then fill in the septic tank with select fill<br />
material.<br />
21. The RESIDENT/PLUMBER shall contact the CITY REPRESENTATIVE for<br />
final inspection. The RESIDENT shall provide the CITY REPRESENTATIVE with<br />
the invoice verifying that the septic tank was pumped out. The CITY<br />
REPRESENTATIVE will provide the RESIDENT with a green card as pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
final inspection and approval <strong>of</strong> all work completed by the RESIDENT as part <strong>of</strong><br />
the grinder pump installation project.<br />
22. The CONTRACTOR shall notify the CITY REPRESENTATIVE when the<br />
clean-up and site restoration work identified in the punch list has been<br />
completed. The CITY REPRESENTATIVE shall inspect the site, determine if all<br />
elements <strong>of</strong> the contract have been met and issue a letter <strong>of</strong> Final Acceptance for<br />
the work at that site. The CONTRACTOR shall then submit a copy <strong>of</strong> the Letter<br />
<strong>of</strong> Final Acceptance as part <strong>of</strong> the final pay request for that project.<br />
