In Autumn 2001 Poul Beckmann released Liv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Jewels, a photographic book giv<strong>in</strong>g evidence <strong>of</strong> the<br />

amaz<strong>in</strong>g diversity <strong>of</strong> shapes and colours <strong>of</strong>fered by<br />

beetles. With its 192 crispy clear images the book<br />

quickly acquired popularity as one <strong>of</strong> those volumes<br />

that everyone should take a look at.<br />

In May 2007 Poul Backmann is back with Liv<strong>in</strong>g Jewels 2,<br />

a second attempt to cover more <strong>of</strong> the <strong>in</strong>credibly vast<br />

world <strong>of</strong> beetles. It has to be mentioned that unlike<br />

other publish<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>gs, Liv<strong>in</strong>g Jewels (1 and 2) is not<br />

the usual type <strong>of</strong> project where good quality images <strong>of</strong><br />
