The slogan of the Bergbahn Kitzbühel cable cars – ‘The first up 

the mountain’ – is to be taken literally as the cable car transports 

all early-risers up the Kitzbüheler Horn before sunrise for a 

contemplative morning prayer, hearty ‘Tirol Milch’ mountain 

breakfast and a romantic walk through the Alpine Flower Garden. 

And all before the backdrop of the Hahnenkamm. But make sure 

you are ready by 4.00 a.m.! 

Special excursions out into the fresh air accompanied by local music 

By the time the sun rises above the Loferer Steinberge mountains, 

your comfortable climb is already behind you. The Kitzbüheler Horn 

cable cars run a special service from 4.30 a.m. (depending on date), 

enabling you to watch the sunrise accompanied by the striking 

sounds of a local Alpine brass band.

The aim is to conquer an altitude difference of 450 m over a 

2,300 m route. The route on the Gaisberg intuitively follows 

the natural features. The trail covers difficulty ratings S1 and S2 

(easy to medium) and is a highlight for downhill enthusiasts as 

well as being available for beginners to the single trail scene 

(all of the roped sections and the trail passages in particular can 

be bypassed on the forest road if required).

HoRN SuMMIT – aLPINE FLoWER GaRdEN 

Walking time: 45 mins. 

Take the cable car to the top of Kitzbüheler Horn (2,000 m), then 

hike through the Alpine Flower Garden and continue further 

downhill to the top terminal of the Alpenhaus Cable Car (1,670 m). 

This tour can also be started uphill from the Alpenhaus to the Horn 

summit. 

KaRST HIKING TRaIL 

From the Trattalmmulde (10 mins from Alpenhaus down into the 

valley) a lovingly prepared path covering 2.4 km takes you into the 

unique karst realm on the Kitzbüheler Horn. Via impressive viewing 

points you reach the ‘Egglhöhe’. ‘Weanerstadt’ provides an impressive 

insight into the history of the earth with its ‘Ponoren’ (cave-like 

structures) – taking you back to the time before the dinosaurs. 

This circular hiking route is suitable for anyone and takes between 

1 hour 30 mins to 2 hours 30 mins to complete, the reward being a 

very special kind of natural adventure.

Hiking time: 20 mins. 

Explore the most famous and most dangerous ski descent in the 

world: come within touching distance of the daredevil ski heroes 

as they tumble down from the start house towards the Mausefalle, 

reaching 100 km/h after just 160 m or 8.5 seconds. From the start 

house, you have impressive views of the world’s most adventurous 

ski decent. Tour (with disabled access) from Hochkitzbühel via the 

start house through a fairytale wood and back. 

no. 22 FouR SEaSoNS HIKING TRaIL 

Panorama circular trail, hiking time: 1 hr. 

An easy all-purpose trail was designed starting from the top 

terminal of the Hahnenkamm Cable Car towards St. Bernhard’s 

Chapel. The four stations give an insight into the cycles of an 

agricultural year. Take a refreshing break in the Kneipp section of 

the Ehrenbachhöhe lake below the Fleckalm Cable Car top station.

This hike takes place on well secured trails from the Hahnenkamm

Restaurant). The views are spectacular! Either continue to Schwarzkogel 

(descent to Aschau) or to Skirast.

Hiking time for round trip Gaisberg chairlift 

– Kobingerhütte: approx. 2 hrs. 

After a pleasant ride on the Gaisberg quad, take the gently climbing 

trail to Bärstättalm, then follow the path to Kobingerhütte. There are 

several options to continue or return to the starting point: either descend

down to the Spertental valley (Skirast or Reiserer), continue hiking via 

Brechhorn (Alpenrosen Cable Car) or return to the Gaisberg chairlift.
