The Bunco Bash was held January 9, 2013. We did
NOT crown a new Bunco Queen for 2013.
Victoria Herman announced she was stepping down
from being the Bunco Chair after 9 years, BUT
before the evening was through a new Bunco chair
emerged from the Bunco playing
members….Nicole Arata. YEA!!
We will have to see what she has in store for all of
us, playing Bunco and wannabe playing Bunco
members!
Bunco is an easy dice game. If you are interested in playing, please call
Nicole at 817-888-5949. We have 2 daytime groups and 5 evening groups.
COME ON, join in the FUN, and meet the awesome women in the TCWC!!
If we receive 12 new interested members wanting to be part of a group, we
will make an 8 th group…so pick up the phone…you know you want to be
part of all the fun!

Member Spotlights
Joyce Frey, TCWC President
Joyce and her husband Bill are pet lovers who are owned by 2 rescued golden
retrievers and 1 cat. Joyce loves to cook, read and enjoys planning travel. She has
been active in TCWC for 5 years, is a retired nursing home administrator and has 4
grandchildren, two in the area.
Deneane Brady, VP Programs
DeDe moved to Trophy Club from Minnesota 1 1/2 years ago with her husband of 26
years, John. They have two grown daughters. DeDe works as a Nurse Anesthetist
and enjoys exploring everything Texas has to offer.
Kathy Carlton, VP Communication
Kathy has worked as a Director of Government Affairs for 20 years and loves to talk
politics! She joined the TCWC within a month of moving to Trophy Club 5 years ago.
She and her husband raised 3 adopted children and now have 4 grandchildren,
whom she wishes lived closer. Kathy was active in Girl Scouts for many years and is
a life-long member. When she has the time, she loves to scrapbook.
Carol Jansen, VP Publicity
Carol and her husband Tom moved to Trophy Club five years ago. They have one
son, Brandon, who just returned from a one-year deployment in Afghanistan. Carol is
an Army Veteran who works as a part time manager at Williams-Sonoma. She is also
an USO volunteer at DFW and has been a Creative Memories Consultant for eight
years. She loves to read, sew, crochet, quilt, cook, photography, and both digital and
traditional scrapbooking.
Stacy Callahan, VP Membership
Stacey is a wife, mom, and CEO to the Callahan household! When she is not working
as an insurance claims manager, she enjoys playing fantasy football online, and to
run. Stacey even ran a half marathon at Lake Benbrook in 2009. She has made
volunteering an important part of her life because it gives her the chance to learn and
experience new things!
Jennifer Rauch, Secretary
Jen is a native Californian but grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She loves to
read and to taste new wines. Jennifer works as an attorney with a law firm in Dallas in
commercial litigation. Jennifer and her husband used to be enthusiastic in animal
rescue and have 3 large dogs and one very grouchy cat.
Becky Smith, Treasurer
Becky retired from Fidelity Investments after 11 years, where she was a 401K
Relationship Manager and Broker. Becky loves to travel and is very excited about her
next destination, New Zealand. She’s also spent time in Europe and Mexico. She
really would like to be fluent in Spanish as she would have loved to become an
interpreter. One of her hobbies is to entertain. Becky as lived in Trophy Club for over
ten years.
Edwina Miles, Parliamentarian
Edwina is a native Texan who has been married to Len Miles for 35 years. They have
a son, Matthew, who lives in Tyler, TX. Edwina became active in numerous charitable
organizations and moved around to various places before settling in Houston in 1990.
They finally moved to Trophy Club in October, 2007. Edwina loves to travel, read,
counted cross stitch, cook, and shop.

President’s Post
2013 will be another year of challenges and opportunities for our club and we look forward to them
with enthusiasm. I would be remiss if I did not look back on 2012 and celebrate.
I am very pleased to have this opportunity to inform our members of the very successful year our
club had in 2012 in the area of our charitable fund raising.
Our bi-annual Garage Sale permit sales cleared an impressive $12,651.03. As you know, TCWC is
fortunate to be able to sell permits for the only garage sales allowed to be held in our town. I am
pleased to report that the TCWC Annual Christmas Tour of Homes cleared an amazing $19,753.98
from ticket sales, ornament sales, wine pull, silent auction, donations and raffle. In addition, we had
several other small income categories: pet fest treats, Belks fundraiser, directories and public
donations to add up to an exciting total NET of all income for 2012 to be distributed of $33,000.00.
TCWC partnered for the first time with two charitable organizations to advertise our events to their
mailing lists and volunteers, and the effect of this partnership was evident by the successful year we
had. As a result, we will distribute 50% of our funds, $16,500.00, to Metroport Meals on Wheels and
25% of our funds, $8,250.00, will be distributed to Christ’s Haven for Children. The remaining 25 %,
$8,250.00, will be distributed to five charitable applicants to be determined in February by the
Allocations & Grants Committee.
Please join me in the spirit of celebration that we can fulfill our charitable goals so successfully and
make a major impact on these organizations for the outstanding work they provide to so many
dependent lives in their care.
Thank you to all the TCWC members that worked so hard to ensure these events were successful.
This has been an outstanding year and one full of new faces and new adventures.
General Meetings
Swing into Valentine’s Day at Golf Galaxy

The Women’s Club is invited to have our February meeting at the new Golf Galaxy located
at 2100 W. Northwest Highway in Grapevine. This is a 42,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to
making sure you play what works. Don’t be worried if you’re not a golfer, there is plenty to
keep you busy and interested. They have a beautiful line of women’s clothing and a skin
care consultant that will be on site. PGA professional Mike White will be presenting a
seminar on the Introduction to Golf. Throughout the evening there will be putting and driving
contests, prizes and discounts. Dinner will be catered by Olive Garden. Spouses are invited
and encouraged to attend. Cost is $18 per person.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity. Make your reservations now for you and a guest
for the February 13 th , 6:30 p.m. general meeting. To reserve your spot, please contact DeDe
Brady by Monday, February 11 th at either 612-817-7342 or Bradyj4@att.net. No shows will
be billed.
Please note – Due to an increase in cost at the Country Club, beginning in March, the dinner
price will be $20. This is a modest increase and the first several years.

I want to thank all of you one more time for your help with
the “Christmas with Flair – 2012” tour of homes. Our
committee is delighted TCWC is able to award so much
money to our grant recipients while hosting such a festive
holiday event. We are already working on making the
2013 Christmas tour of homes even bigger and better! If
you have special theme ideas or would like to help with
the planning, please send me an e-mail or give me a call.
Our monthly meetings are fun and I serve good treats!
Many members wanted to include their homes on the last
tour, but had scheduling conflicts. If you would like your
home included in the 2013 tour, please contact me:

Since Thanksgiving is very late this year, we did not want
to interfere with family travel plans. Mark your calendars

2013 Membership Renewals Now Due!
Newsletter
The TCWC Board has approved the Rambling Rose to
be published in alternating months. Beginning next
month, the newsletter will be produced in odd-numbered
months and cover two months' activities. The weekly eblasts
have been extremely successful and will continue
to bring you up-to-date information as it becomes
available. With the savings we hope to achieve from
reduced postage costs, we will be improving the TCWC
website and implementing a Facebook account.

Gourmet Group
Meet new friends while enjoying
great food! Eat fabulous foods both
in our homes and in restaurants
around the area.... New gourmet
groups are now being formed for the
coming year. We have couples
groups that meet in the homes,
couples groups that go out to local
restaurants or couples groups that
do a combination of both. We also
have ladies groups that do the
same. This is great for single women
or for ladies whose husbands just
don't enjoy this particular activity.
Sign up and we will put you on a
waiting list to form a new group or
put you in an existing group should
slots become available. Just let us
know, we would love to have you!
We are searching for a new
chairman of this fun group. It would
be a good way to get involved in
Women's Club. It is not a very time
consuming job, just some computer
inquiries, phone calls and a little
organizing. Please let us know if you
