Fire and Ice Gala
The Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake Moms
League held their annual “Fire & Ice Gala” on
Saturday, February 16 th . A group from TCWC
came together to purchase a table for 10 to
show our support. The annual event was held
at the Marriott Solana in Westlake, and was a
combination dinner, dancing, raffle, and silent
auction.
March/April 2013
The event featured a silent auction that
included a variety of children’s items, jewelry
and clothing, home goods, men’s items, and
various trips. It’s always fun to bid on
something and hope to get it for a little less

than market value. TCWC ladies and
their husbands took turns bidding on auction items. It was a fun event and few
came home empty handed.
Our own Nancy Gray won the raffle prize of a new Keurig coffee maker, 2 boxes of
coffee K-cups, and a $25 certificate to Dunkin Donuts. Coffee and donuts at
Nancy’s house!
TCWC has partnered with GCS Moms League and has agreed to promote their
fundraiser in return for their promotion of our fundraising events, specifically, the
Christmas Home Tour and the Garden Tour.
We were delighted to support a group that raises money for one of our favorite
charities, Christ’s Haven for Children. All the proceeds from the event are given to
Christ’s Haven for Children, and the director was on hand to help out. And the
partnership between TCWC and GCS Moms League works both ways. Several
members of the GCML attended the Tour of Homes, and have promised to be back
again this year.

Member Spotlights
Nicole Arata looks impossibly young to have five children, ages 4-12!
She and husband Patrick moved to Trophy Club over a year ago after
living in California, Mississippi and Virginia, and joined TCWC to meet
people and get involved. She immediately offered to take on the position
of Bunco Chair and is planning to add more groups for the many new
members in the club. She also is very interested in community service
that kids can participate in and is looking for ways to begin.
Nicole grew up “a tomboy” in California, playing soccer and swimming
competitively. After college, Nicole participated in triathlons and mountain
bike racing. Her dedication to physical fitness continues, and three times
a week she is up at 5AM and working out at a local Camp Gladiator boot
camp, after which she returns home to get those five kids ready for their
day!
Nicole majored in Social Ecology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice
and Psychology/Social Behavior. She worked as a private investigator
pursuing worker’s compensation fraud. She met Patrick, who works for
the Department of Justice, on a blind date, and now is very busy with her
family.
TCWC is indeed fortunate to have this dynamic lady involved with our
Club.

Pearl Ford, one of the founding members of a TCWC, was
honored January 25 th by the Northwest Metroport Chamber of
Commerce. Chamber President and CEO, Sally Michalak
presented Mrs. Ford her award at the Chamber’s 25 th Anniversary
Celebration. This was only the second time a Lifetime
Membership Award has been given. The only other such award
was given to Byron Nelson.
Pearl and husband Isaac have lived in Trophy Club since 1979
and have two children and two grandchildren who also live here.
Pearl grew up in Richmond, Va. and graduated from Hampton
University with degrees in physics and math. She worked for 30
years for IBM and currently dedicates much of her time to helping
young adults with tutoring and career planning, as well as being
very active in the Trophy Club Community. Pearl is always on the
other end of the phone saying yes to helping others and TCWC.
Congratulations Pearl for this much deserved honor.

The February meeting at Golf Galaxy was very interesting and we were glad to have spouses and friends attend.
After enjoying the dinner catered by the Olive Garden, we tried our hand at some golf skills competition. The
March meeting will be at Trophy Club Country Club and will highlight your personal health and wellness. We also
will present checks to our two primary grant recipients. Please plan to attend and enjoy socializing with your club
members and meeting new people.
We hope you enjoy the new Rambling Rose format of publication every two months, the pictures, and additional
features to acquaint you with your fellow club members.
General Meetings
March - Take Time For Your Well Being
Come embrace your health and wellness at the March General Meeting. We are happy to welcome Terri Suresh,
Nurse Practitioner and CEO of Hormonal Health and Wellness Center of Southlake. Terri will teach us about the
symptoms of hormone imbalance in women and men; the difference between bio-identical and synthetic
hormones; the role of testosterone in hormone therapy; and the long term benefits of balanced hormones in
fighting disease. Then our own TCWC member Candace Schroeder will speak to us about the importance of
regular exercise and maintaining flexibility throughout our lives. We’ll learn how exercise releases endorphins that
promote happiness. And you’ll see that exercise can be fashionable when you see our own TCWC fashion
models wearing LUCY performance wear.
Don’t miss out! Make your reservation NOW to join us on Wednesday, March 13 th at the Trophy Club Country
Club at 6:30 pm. Dinner will feature seared tilapia, with a chicken option available upon request with your
reservation. We are looking for 6-8 models for the LUCY active wear. To make a reservation or to volunteer to

April - Decorating Ideas for Spring
Whitnie Cypert, an international designer and owner of Interior Collection, will be our guest speaker for the April
meeting. Whitnie will share her expertise and show us how to brighten up any room for spring. The Interior
Collection specializes in full interior design services and current trends in design. They have won numerous
design awards and boast of repeat clients from all over the country.
The dinner will be Chicken Roulade, with a vegetarian option available upon request. Plan to join your friends for
our monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 10 th at the Trophy Club Country Club. To reserve your spot, please

Citywide Garage Sale
Mark your calendars for the Spring Garage Sale on
Saturday, April 20 th , 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. rain or shine!
Sponsored by the Trophy Club Women's Club, this
popular sale typically includes over 300 homes. Locator
maps will be sold at entrances to Trophy Club for $1 on
the day of sale. Trophy Club residents can purchase
permits for $20 to participate in the sale from April 1 st
through April 19 th at Trophy Club Tom Thumb or Sassy
Flamingo. Permits must be purchased by 5:00 p.m. on
Thursday, April 18 th to be included on the locator map.
Proceeds from the permit and map sales go to local

Be sure to get involved with one of our fundraisers by
stopping at our local Tom Thumb store and sign up for
your Rewards Card. Not only will your rewards card
give you lots of discounts, but also will entitle you to sign

each time you shop to our TCWC.

Gourmet Group
New gourmet groups are now being
formed for the coming year. This is
one of TCWC’s most popular
activities and a great way to make
new friends. We have couples
groups that meet in homes, couples
groups that go out to local
restaurants and couples groups that
do a combination of both. We also
have ladies groups that do the
same. This is great for you single
women or for ladies that want to
dine without their spouse. Sign up
and we will put you on a waiting list
to form a new group or put you in an
existing group should slots become
available. Thanks to new member
Pan Pinard who has jumped in to be
chair and will be hosting a coffee for
all new members interested in
forming new groups or filling spaces

year the Horticulture Department,
under the direction of Rebekah Terry,

event. The plants are beautiful and
healthy and often sell in a few hours.
These perennials and annuals are
