3 workshop in Poole building another ‘67,
this time a no hold tradition Cal Look with a
2276 and Weber 48s on DDS manifolds.

The other Cab is a ‘64 Cal import car. Rake
is achieved with a 2-inch narrowed beam.
Wheels are original Gas Burners mounted
with 145 & 205/70 tyres. Inside there’s a
VDM wheel, Berg locker and black vinyl
seats. Black t-bars, a stainless dual quiet
pack and original hood trim mix well with
the 2110/freeway fl yer mechanicals.
His Coral red ‘54 rag was featured in
VolksWorld Sept ‘96. But has changed a
fair bit since! It went to Das Drag Day in
2005 in its new guise. The 1835 now has
a full stainless VW Speed Shop muffl er
& header set up and is monitored by
Autometer Ultra-Lite 2 stage rev counter
with matching oil and temp gauges, all
mounted below the dash. With IRS, 4 inch
narrowed ball joint beam, detailed late
Fuchs and roll bars, it really corners!
The Blue ‘63 is a real ripper running a
12.05 in the 1/4 mile. A fl ange cranked
2332 mega cam and Ultra Mag 44/37
heads with a long valve conversion. Stand
offs help ram air into the IDAs and the
manifolds mix the fuel and nitrous together
with the stainless annular discharge profoggers.
Full MSD linking launch and rev
controls, progressive nitrous controller
adds to the wiring. Race axles, braces and
solid mounts get the power down with the
fourth topping out at 8, 000 rpm. Sparse
interior with cage, harnesses and multiple
warning lights all mean business.

Taylor’s Ghia
Although not at the shoot, this low light will
be debuted at Sandown. Original Sprint
Stars, original Empi Eliminator shifter and
a very non-original 2165 lump with FK8
cam! It is running a Peloquin built gearbox.

Unwelded and proud, this Ghia is highly
detailed underneath - but OG on top.
Joe “Patient” Patel
Another Portsmouth regular Joe’s late
model Ghia is a ground up rebuilt car 2332
power again, this one cammed by an 86b,
44 IDFs and a 0.89 rancho box which will
probably snap the speedo needle clean
off! Joe was sadly not at the photoshoot.
Chris Lincoln
Prospective member Chris recently bought
his restored Beryl Green ‘63 and has big
plans. Original Gas Burners, a narrow
beam and discs will do nicely! A 2276 and
close ratio gearbox are already built and
once fi tted should see Chris getting to
grips with some serious horsepower.
