Alberta bound. Alberta bound, how I
long to be Alberta bound...’
This may very well be the song racing
through the minds of the Durham Lady
Lords volleyball team members.
The national college championships
will be held in Red Deer, Alberta on
March 25-28, and our Lady Lords hope
to be there.
This year has been kind of a disap-
pointment up to now, but we’ll be there
again...I know we will", said the wo-
men’s volleyball coach, Stan Marchut.
Last year the volleyball team cap-
tured the bronze medal in Victoria, B.C.
But, this year is going to be a different
ball game.
TH I S
The team must finish fourth or better
to automatically qualify for the Ontario
College Athletic Association (O.C.A.A.)
championships, which will offer them
the chance to reach Alberta.
If they finish fifth or worse, they
would still have a chance to qualify for
the national finals at the O.C.A.A. pre-
finals which were held this past wee-
kend.
At press time, the volleyball team
was sitting in fifth position with a 6-7
win loss. -C^
On Thursday night the team was to
play their last game at Centenial Col-
lege, which would determine their final
standings.
If the team was to come up with anot-
her loss, they would leave for Sheridan
would participate in the pre-finals.
If however, they were to win, they
would be granted a buy to the finals,
holding a fourth place standing.
In an interview with team player Carol
Cruwys, optimism was certainly ho-
vering overhead.
"Our team definitely has the pot-
ential. We have a lot of dedicated iplay-
ers on the team. If we work hard, I’m
sure we can do it!", said Cruwys, who
has recently returned to play after dea-
