WHITE
CROSS
SERVICE
On October
6 th , after the
5:00pm Mass, we will remember the
many lives unjustly lost, whether
through abortion, the death penalty,
murder, or any other ungodly
manner. You are invited to join the
procession after Mass and gather in
communion to pray at the crosses.
This event will be our opportunity to
express our solemn regret that the
precious gift of life has been robbed
from so many, even before it began
in some cases. The crosses will
remain in front of the church
throughout the month of October,
which is Respect Life month. You
are encouraged to come and pray
throughout the month of October in
memory of lost lives. We are
looking for volunteers to make white
crosses and/or donate supplies for
the crosses. We need your help and
participation!
HEALTH NOTES
EYE-CARE PRODUCTS
Eye drops for “soothing
tired eyes” and “getting
the red out” are among the more
questionable OTC’s. There is
nothing in any eye drops that can
relieve eyestrain or fatigue of the
eye muscles; and placing drops in
one’s eye is never very soothing. If
one frequently has red eyes, an eye
examination is in order. The active
ingredients naphazoline and
tetrahydrozoline constrict the
superficial blood vessels of the eye
and thereby temporarily decrease the
redness. They are generally
harmless, but tolerance to their
effect can develop and sometimes
sensitivity occurs, causing the eyes
to become even redder. The more
often the products are used, the more
likely this is to occur. If you use eye
drops and eardrops, read the caution
about not mixing them up. It is best
not to store them together to reduce
the chance of this happening.

Registration for CCE Classes has
started.
Classes for Elementary Students
(PreK – 5 th Grade and Out of
Sequence Students) are held every
Saturday, from 9:30am to
11:30am.
Classes for the Jr. and Sr. High
Students (6 th – 10 th Grade and
RCIC Students) are held on
Mondays, from 6:30pm to
8:30pm.
The Registration fee for one (1)
child is $25.00 and $35.00 for two
(2) or more siblings. The fee for
Late Registration (after September
8 th ) is $15.00.
SPECIAL NEEDS CLASSES
St. Francis Xavier CCE Department
is welcoming the Youth of the parish
with Special Needs. Classes will be
on Monday nights from 6:30pm to
8:30pm. For additional information,
contact Judy Simon in the CCE
Office at (713) 731-2775.
(Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)
If you are non-Catholic and
interested in becoming Catholic, or
you know someone who is
interested, classes will be starting
soon. Call the Parish Office to
Register.
The Disaster
Team will meet
on Wednesday,
September 26 th ,
at 7:00pm in the
Harris Center. All Team Members
are asked to attend.
BLESSING OF THE
ANIMALS
Everyone is invited
to bring your pets
to the ‘Blessing of
the Animals’ on
Saturday, October
6 th , at 1:00pm. We will meet
outside the church.
FALL BAZAAR NEWS
Volunteers are needed to work the
“Wings & Frys Booth” and the
“Children’s Games Booth” for the
Bazaar. If your Ministry or
Organization would like to give your
time and talents in this effort, call
the Parish Office at (713) 738-2311
during regular Business Hours. The
Christian Women Organization will
have a Bake Sale every Sunday until
Bazaar weekend after the 7:30am
and 10:00am Masses. Donations of
homemade cakes, pies, brownies,
and tea cakes can be dropped off at
the Harris Center. Please do not
plan any non-Bazaar related fund
raisers during this time! Bazaar T-
Shirts and Caps are also available
for purchase after the 7:30am and
10:00am Masses, or in the Parish
Office during regular business
hours. The next Bazaar Team
Meeting is Tuesday, September
25 th , at 7:00pm.
The 40 Days for Life program is
designed to pray and fast to end
abortion. Starting September 26,
2012 through November 4, 2012 we
will recite the rosary each day to end
abortion. This is an international
event held at over 300 official sites
and many more homes and
churches. In Houston you may
participate by going to
http://40daysforlife.com/location.cf
m and register to join one of the
official sites in prayer. However,
you may also make a personal
commitment to prayer the rosary
daily to end abortion. Whether you
choose to pray at the white crosses
at the church, in the chapel or in the
privacy of your home, your prayers
are needed. "If my people who are
called by name, will humble
themselves and pray, and seek my
face and turn from their wicked
ways, then will I hear from heaven
and will forgive their sin and will
heal their land."(2Chronicles 7:14)
