Introduction to the ASEAN‐EU Year of Science
Technology and Innovation
• An idea born within the SEA‐EU‐NET project, based on the
project’s project s dialogue activities
• A year long campaign to deepen S&T collaboration between
Europe and Southeast Asia
• Officially endorsed by the ASEAN Committee of Science and
Technology (COST) and the European Commission/DG / RTD
The Objectives
Coordinate joint S&T‐related events
Raise awareness among the public public, and especially the young young,
about the importance of S&T cooperation
Promote Southeast Asian and European competencies in S&T
Establish a platform for the mobility of ideas and researchers
and stimulate research partnerships
Identify common global research challenges and ways to
tackle them
Develop and launch new funding instruments to support SEA‐
EU S&T cooperation
