Explanation for Table 2<br />

Table 2 gives the enrichment above rock crustal abundance (Krauskopf, 1967) for<br />

selected percentiles <strong>of</strong> the chalcophile, siderophile, and lithophile eltmcnts in the<br />

Petersburg study area, <strong>Alaska</strong>. Enrichment above rock crustal abundance was<br />

determined by dividing average crustal abundance taken from Krauskopf (1967) and<br />

dividing that into the actual concentration values computed for stlccted percentiles.<br />

Tht element column heading is coded as follows:<br />

S-F t -5tmiquantitative spectrographic analyses <strong>of</strong> iron<br />

AA-Zn -Atomic absorption analyses <strong>of</strong> zinc<br />

CM-W -Colorimetric analyses <strong>of</strong> tungsttn<br />

A C-U -Neutron activation, delayed neutron counting, analysts <strong>of</strong> uranium<br />

S I-F -Selccrivc ion electrode analysts <strong>of</strong> fluorine<br />

U-lnst. -Fluorometric analysis <strong>of</strong> uranium.<br />

The crustal abundance column heading values for Fe, hl g, Ca, and Ti are reported in<br />

percent, all other values are in parts per million.<br />

C -3 -Nonmagnetic fraction <strong>of</strong> heavy-mineral<br />

sedim ents<br />
