Mattie Hynds, as always, delighted the crowd with
her beautiful singing and Alan Roach was in fine
fettle as he took to the stage.Young Stephen Keenan
has always had talent. Now he's developing the
confidence to back it up! He appeared with young
Amelia Spragg whose lovely voice added another
dimension to the performance. Stephen is always a
popular turn at these evenings, and he and Amelia left the stage to
tumultuous, well-deserved applause.
There was something of a surprise when Chic Keenan
abandoned his usual brass instruments and turned up
with a keyboard . . . and daughter! Young Rihanna took
centre stage - you could have heard a pin drop as she
delivered a very polished performance indeed!
Got a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of this young
lady!
There's little that can be said about Reely Jiggered
that hasn't been said before. Their set, as always, was
tremendous. The standing ovation that followed spoke volumes. Thanks,
as always, to Alison, Fiona and Scott.
Such was the popularity of the night that we were victims of our own
success. We could only allocate one ten- minute slot per act. This left the
audience wanting more of many performers than there was time for. We
do intend to invite the most popular turns back early in the new year . . .
watch this space for details.
In the meantime, a very special thank you to
everyone who helped make the night such an
unforgettable, utterly enjoyable one, but
especially to Jim Currie and Charlie McGroarty,
Peter Wilkinson, Jim Byrne and the
Blackwoods, Stuart Anderson, Robert Harrison
and Allan Trotter and to Dermid and the
irrepressible Fandangos.
Fiona McNeill and Dave Currie should take a well-deserved bow! Photos by
