FlashSoft TM and SanDisk ® Enterprise Storage
Solutions (ESS) recently conducted a performance test
using SanDisk Lightning ® Enterprise Flash Drives
(EFDs) to provide a high-performance cache in a
server running Windows Server 2008 R2. For the test,
we ran a commonly-used OLTP benchmark suite on
MS-SQL Server.
OLTP Performance with MS-SQL
Three configurations were tested:
1) Baseline performance for the server was established
by determining the TPM score for the server with a
high performance RAID 5 array comprising 15 SAS
HDDs, at 15,000 rpm. TPM-C: 3,323
2) The same server and disk array, with two SanDisk
LB 150S EFDs in RAID 1 configuration enabled as a
cache for server IO. TPM-C: 12,985
3) The same server and disk array, with two SanDisk
LB 150S EFDs in RAID 0 configuration enabled as a
cache for server IO. TPM-C: 13,795

About FlashSoft
Founded in Silicon Valley in 2009, FlashSoft Corporation provides software solutions that
enable a high performance cache on an EFD attached directly in the server. The server-tier
cache eliminates IO latency to increase application performance, increase VM capability and
relieve overhead on storage systems. FlashSoft provides a practical, economical means to
employ Enterprise Flash Drives for high performance without requiring changes to servers,
