After-school learning: helping youth achieve Intel® Computer Clubhouse Network The Intel Computer Clubhouse Network is an after-school, community-based learning programme that enables youth in under-served areas to access cutting-edge technology and become self-confident, motivated learners. The network, of over 100 clubhouses in 20 countries, is based on a learning model created by the Boston Museum of Science in collaboration with MIT Media Labs. Intel® Learn Program Developed with governments and non-governmental agencies, the Intel Learn Program provided opportunities for young learners in developing countries to learn key skills needed for tomorrow’s success, with a focus on technology literacy, problem solving and collaboration. Intel Involved: a global commitment, a local focus Intel employees around the world devote their time to engaging local schools and students. They mentor and read to students, explain algebraic equations, participate in field trips and provide real-world examples of what an engineer does every day. This year, Intel employees set a goal to volunteer 1 million hours around the world to celebrate the company’s 40th year of business. In May 2008, Intel received the US Freedom Corps Volunteer Service Award from the president, George W. Bush. The Volunteer Service Award honours the hard work and dedication of those who serve in their communities.
