Hockwold Country Fair 2012
Thank you everyone who visited, were running stalls or
helped out in anyway. We hope you enjoyed the day. We
were blessed with a very good day of weather and the attendance
was pretty good too, even with it being Fathers Day.
The trailer bringing people from the car park was full on each
arrival at the gate for quite some time keeping those looking after the entrance
on their toes. Anyone who is wondering about the bird that flew away during
CJs Birds Of Prey later demonstration they were eventually found safe and
sound. Again this year the funds raised have produced a healthy profit and we
shall be making donations to those village organisations, that attended and
ran a stall, very soon.
As a major village event it must keep going.
Fresh minds with new ideas wanted.
So if you felt inspired after visiting the Country Fair maybe you would
like to come and join us. New committee members are always welcome. Perhaps
as Secretary, a position which is currently available. If you are interested
please phone me on 07876 780100
Also thank you to all committee members without whom the Country
Fair wouldn’t happen.
Next years Country Fair will be on Sunday June 2 nd 2013. Put it in your
diary.
If anyone has any comments on this years Country Fair then do please
phone me on the number above.
On Behalf Of Hockwold Country Fair Committee
Scarecrow Competition
Many thanks to all those who took part in the scarecrow competition this
year, what an inventive and creative lot you are!
Congratulations go to the winner Anna Roe with her ‘Mad Hatters Tea
Party’ (which can be seen on the back cover of the magazine), and also to
runner up Hockwold Primary School with their ‘Olympic Lion’. A special commendation
went to Evelyn Haylett for her ‘Unlucky Fisherman’. Thanks to the
Rev. Ken Waters and Mrs. Waters for judging the entries.
Dog Show
A marvellous array of pooches joined us on the field for the dog show,
kindly judged by Frankie Shaw. Competition was tough and all were outstanding
in their own way, fully deserving of their entry dog treat. Congratulations to
Poppy (and her owner Cameron) who won Best in Show, to Roxy (and her
owner Anna) who won Waggiest Tail, and to George (and his owner Barry)
who won ‘Dog that Most Looks Like It’s Owner. Congratulations also to the
winner of the puppy competition, a Teacup Yorkie—but apologies for not being
able to remember your name!
