The <strong>Washington</strong> <strong>Parish</strong> School Board met in regular session on the above date<br />
with the following members present: Dan Slocum, John Wyble, Bruce Brown, John<br />
Breland, Matthew Tate, Alan McCain, Mary Adams, and Lesley McKinley. Absent:<br />
Dewitt Perry.<br />
Agenda Item #1 - Call to order<br />
The meeting was called to order by President Alan McCain.<br />
Agenda Item #2 – Invocation<br />
The invocation was given by Lesley McKinley.<br />
Agenda Item #3 – Pledge of Allegiance<br />
Agenda Item #4 - Presentation from LSU Ag Center – Henry Harrison<br />
(Darrell Fairburn).<br />
Henry Harrison, County Agent gave a brief update on the programs in the school<br />
system. He also introduced a new Food & Nutrition Agent, Kate Farbe.<br />
Emily Becnel, 4-H Agent gave an update on the 4-H programs in the schools.<br />
Patrick White, MHS 4-H student was present at tonight’s meeting and gave a brief<br />
presentation on his 4-H projects.<br />
Superintendent Fairburn recognized the Young Author State winners from each<br />

The Board congratulated all of the winners and coach of the year.
Agenda Item #5 - Consider a motion to adopt the minutes of the April 12,<br />
<strong>2012</strong>, regular board meeting (Alan McCain).<br />
It was moved by John Breland, seconded by Lesley McKinley, that the Board<br />
adopt the minutes of the April 12, <strong>2012</strong>, regular board meeting as submitted to each<br />
member. Motion carried unanimously.<br />
Agenda Item #6 - Consider a motion to authorize advertisement for bids for<br />
the purchase of Bakery Products, Milk and Other Food and Non-Food Supplies<br />
for the School Lunch Program for the <strong>2012</strong>/2013 school year (Marsha Newman).<br />
It was moved by Bruce Brown, seconded by Lesley McKinley, that the Board<br />
authorize advertisement for bids for the purchase of Bakery Products, Milk and Other<br />
Food and Non-Food Supplies for the School Lunch Program for the <strong>2012</strong>/2013 school<br />
year as follows:<br />

It was moved by Dan Slocum, seconded by Bruce Brown, that the Board renew<br />
the contract of Rita Mulina, Title I Coordinator, Central Office for a contract period of two<br />
years from <strong>May</strong> 24, <strong>2012</strong> through <strong>May</strong> 23, 2014. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #8 - Consider a motion to renew the contract of Renee Burris,<br />
Principal, Mt. Hermon School (Darrell Fairburn).<br />
It was moved by Bruce Brown, seconded by Dan Slocum, that the Board renew<br />
the contract of Renee Burris, Principal, Mt. Hermon School for a contract period of two<br />
years from June 1, <strong>2012</strong> through <strong>May</strong> 31, 2014. Motion carried unanimously.<br />
Agenda Item #9 - Consider a motion to renew the contract of Grant Gerald,<br />
Assistant Principal of Instruction, Franklinton High School (Darrell Fairburn).<br />
It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by Bruce Brown, that the Board renew<br />
the contract of Grant Gerald, Assistant Principal of Instruction, Franklinton High School<br />
for a contract period of two years from June 11, <strong>2012</strong> through June 10, 2014. Motion<br />
carried unanimously.<br />
Agenda Item #10 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding Personnel<br />
and Transportation Adjustments (Richard Kennedy).<br />

Agenda Item #11 – Consider a motion to employ Personnel and Substitutes<br />
for the <strong>2012</strong>/2013 school year (Richard Kennedy).<br />
It was moved by Matthew Tate, seconded by Lesley McKinley, that the Board<br />
employ Personnel and Substitutes for the <strong>2012</strong>/2013 school year. SEE ATTACHED.<br />
Motion carried unanimously.<br />
Agenda Item #12 – Superintendent’s Report<br />
ADD TO THE AGENDA: It was moved by Lesley McKinley, seconded by Bruce<br />

carried unanimously.

Will plan to meet in July on long term goals.<br />
Agenda Item #13 – Other business from board members.<br />
John Wyble would like for the system to work toward a parish calendar. He also<br />
thinks the time is coming for the system to meet students with technology.<br />
Matthew Tate reminded everyone that next week is Teacher Appreciation Week.<br />
Brandon Taylor, former FHS Demon and LSU Tiger was drafted in the NFL by the<br />
San Diego Chargers.<br />
April is Autism Month. Charlotte Fasola invited everyone to come out for the<br />
Autism Fun Run at the Fairgrounds on Saturday.<br />
