Sunday Morning Worship - 8:00 & 10:30 AM Sunday School - 9:15 AM
Church, Go Forth!
127 of us experienced church at its best recently! It
wasn’t a great, uplifting worship service, for only
one verse of one hymn was sung, and there was no
sermon, no offering, no choir, no children’s chat,
and not even any lovefeast buns or coffee. But we
experienced the church alive and well, as we
shared a time to do the business of church at our
annual church council meeting.
To be honest, most of us don’t look forward to
these meetings like we look forward to other
opportunities for worship, fellowship, study,
prayer or service together. But there are two
observations I had, as I have had at every other
annual church council meeting in my years of
ministry: 1. These meetings are essential for the
wellbeing of the church; 2. We come away being
thankful for the high privilege of being a church
alive and well, facing challenges, and committing
ourselves to do ministry together.
Morning worship was followed by a fellowship
lunch time. Thank you to the Seeker’s Class for
coordinating the lunch. Then, before looking ahead
to the necessary decisions of the day, we enjoyed
looking back to where we’ve been this past year. It
was the 6 th annual “Sight and Sound” presentation
of highlights of the ministry we shared in the past
year. Thanks to Rick Watson and the Multi-Media
Committee.
Highlights of the business meeting were the
election of the following:
Elders: Ed Barry, John Reidenbaugh, and
Amy Sue Walter for 3 year terms, Gretchen Valudes
for a 2 year term, and Anna Buch for a 1 year term.
Trustees: Ed Journey, Randy Reist, and
Carolyn Weidman for a 3 year term, and
Alida Schoenberger for a 1 year term.
Cemetery Committee: Carl Shuman
Christian Ed. Committee: Karen Erb
Financial Review Committee: Dick Minnich
Eastern District Synod Delegates: joining the
pastors will be Marian Shatto, Mandy Mastros,
Dianne Zimmerman, and alternate Tom Snavely.
The Treasurer’s Report for 2011 was reviewed and
approved. The 2012 budget approved by the Joint
Board was approved by Church Council. The total
General Fund budget is $643,475, up 3.1% from last
year’s 623,755. This means our giving needs to
average $12,141 per week. Other written and
financial reports highlighting the ministries of the
many groups and committees of the church were
reviewed and approved. Bylaw changes were
approved, to be reaffirmed at a second upcoming
church council. A proposal from the Lititz Springs
Park Board in regards to an updated wording of the
Declaration of Trust was tabled for further
discussion. And we ended with the Safe Church Task
Force presenting a report of their many efforts to
serve us all, including leading us in a fire drill to
conclude our gathering.
In Lent: Cleansing. An Exercise
You Must Do at Church. Has our
that the church is God’s house and is open to
everyone. The scriptures for this week are John 2:13-
SPECIAL LENTEN STUDY:
THE CASE FOR CHRIST
Sundays, 9:15 in the Heritage Dining Room.
This six-session study on the award winning book
by former Chicago tribune journalist Lee Strobel
begins Sunday, March 4 th . Using his investigative
journalism skills, as an atheist his project was to
determine if there is credible evidence that Jesus of
Nazareth is really who the church says He is, the
Son of God. He cross examined experts with tough
questions such as How reliable is the New
Testament? Does evidence exist for Jesus outside
the Bible? Is there any reason to believe the
resurrection was an actual historical event? His
investigation changed his life, and gave him reason
to believe. This DVD-led study/discussion is for all
who have questions, as well as those who want to
know how to better talk with those who have
questions. Led by John Reidenbaugh and Pastor
Dean.
The photographers will be at church on
Sunday, February 26th, to distribute the
next round of pictures in the Elbow
Room. All pictures that
aren’t picked-up will come
back to the church office
Holy Times Class
In a book about Moravian History, a lot of
information is written about what attracted
Zinzendorf and the rest of the world to the
Moravians. The biggest attraction was their
devotion and commitment to reading, studying,
and sharing the scriptures. It appeared to many
onlookers that the Moravians were spending all of
their non-working time on the scriptures.
What a great attraction! What a great foundation
our ancestors laid down for us to build on. Do
you think that when people ask today, “Who are
the Moravians,” we are referred to as the people
who are so heavily involved in the scriptures?
Well, if spending all your free time is not an
option then how about one hour a week?
The Holy Time Class meets each Sunday at 9:15
in Eschbach Parlor, where the scripture is read,
studied, and discussed. There are no scholars just
fellow Moravians sharing and talking about the
word of God and what it says to us about living
and being God's people.
Are you interested in carrying on a tradition that
our forefathers started and passed down to us?
As Pastor Mark stated in a recent sermon—
"Come and See." We are anxious for you to join
us—come and hear what God has to say—He has
a message for each of us.
Woodchucks
Saturday, March 10th, at
9:00 AM in the woodshop in
We are asking for a few folks to help make our
workshop participants feel welcome. We are
anticipating folks from approximately 10
congregations (or about 150 ringers) in the
Lancaster-Lebanon area.
Our needs are simple. Between 8:15 and
9:00 AM, we will have bagels and beverages
(coffee, tea, juice, etc.) prior to the event. During
that time, we will need a couple of folks to smile
and keep the baskets and coffee pots filled. We
will be having lunch around noon and it would
be nice to have a few folks help organize our
lunch that will be delivered by Subway. No
heavy lifting involved, just meeting new folks
and showing them great hospitality…like we
always do!
There will be an informal concert at 3:00 PM
for everyone to enjoy. We may need a few folks
to set up some light chairs…and then listen to
the workshop pieces. We will be working on
four pieces during the workshop and the concert
will be performed by the mass choir—150
ringers!
We always appreciate help when dismantling the
workshop and returning our “stuff” to the
Preparation Room. If you are able to spend some
time with the “ding-a-lings” on March 17, please
bought, sold, and ate the chocolate pretzels and brittle.
We also received monetary donations which helped defray
the cost of the chocolate and pretzels. Thank you so much!
We netted a profit of $3,556. We couldn't have done this
without your support. $1,000 will go to future building
Lititz Moravian 2012 Arts & Crafts Show
We are holding an arts and crafts show featuring talented artists and crafts people within our congregation
on Saturday, March 31, 2012 in Fellowship Hall from 9 AM to 4 PM. If you would like to enter, the
entry fee will be 10% of your receipts for the day. Proceeds to go to the Future Building Projects Fund.
You must have made the items you put up for sale. Please, no items made in China!
Maybe your group or Sunday school class would like to produce something. Remember 10% goes to the
Future Building Projects Fund (FCPF) and your group keeps the rest. Consult with Matt Good at the
News from the Retreat Committee
Because the second weekend in November usually includes a Moravian communion
Sunday and participation of our pastors and presenters has been somewhat limited by this
fact, we have been looking for a different weekend for our retreat. Kenbrook Retreat
Center was made aware of this desire several years ago but only recently was able to offer
us another weekend. With the approval of our pastors and the Retreat Committee,
beginning this year, our retreat will be moved to the third weekend in November.
OUR NEW DATES FOR 2012 ARE NOVEMBER 16-18. Mark your calendars now!
Do you have questions about life or faith? Together we will consider some answers.
The Spiritual Life Committee at Moravian Manor is sponsoring ALPHA where your
questions will be discussed with others who are also on the journey of faith.
What is ALPHA? Here is a taste:
Anyone can come. Anyone interested in finding out more about faith and life is welcome.
Learning and laughter. Join others in a relaxed atmosphere.
Pasta (or other great food). Each week’s session begins with supper.
Helping one another. Supper is followed by large group presentation and small group discussion.
Ask anything. Here is your chance to ask your questions and express your opinions.
Some questions we may consider include:
• How can I be sure of my faith?
• Why and how do I pray?
• Why does God allow suffering?
• What about other religions?
• How can I make the most of the rest of my life?
The sessions continue on Tuesdays in March, at 5:30 PM with supper in Center Court at Moravian
Manor, 300 West Lemon Street, Lititz, PA. We will conclude around 7:30 PM. There will be up to 12
sessions on consecutive Tuesdays at the same time and place. There is no cost and there is no obligation to
attend all sessions. Voluntary donations will be accepted toward meals and materials.

“Regennas candy will
I've ordered a little of
everything—molasses
The Moravian Mission Gift Shop
March Spotlight is on:
Warwick Released Time Program.
The program is a ministry of the Warwick Association
of Churches and is permitted by the School Code of PA*. The mission of
the Released Time Program is “Planting the Seeds of God’s Word in
Young Hearts.” The theme this year is “Fruit of the Spirit.” This year
there are 296 students registered from the 4th and 5th grades in the
Warwick School District. Each student was greeted by pastors from
hosting churches and a surprising number of students were welcomed
inside a church for the first time.
We are blessed to offer space at Lititz Moravian for 4th and 5th grade
students from the Bonfield Elementary School on Tuesdays in our
Christian Education Building. To learn more about this exciting ministry
plan to attend one of their open house programs at Lititz Moravian
Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, February 28 or Lititz United Methodist on
Thursday, March 1. Both programs begin at 7 PM. Or for more
information contact the director: Sue Rohrer at 626-4454 or
email: WarwickReleasedTime@yahoo.com.
*A time period of one hour a week (not to exceed 36 hours per school
year) of religious instruction outside of school property. The program is
entirely funded by donations from area churches, businesses, groups,
and individuals and maintained without public school funds.

CHILD
Spiritual Impact Story
for March
“The Little Grey
Shoebox”
How often do we laugh and say, “Wow, God
really had a special purpose for that shoebox!”
This story is no exception and yet in many ways
it’s even more amusing as for many of us, this
little box may not have passed inspection.
The shoebox was the smallest the distributors had
ever seen and to add to that it was plain and grey,
no colorful Christmas designs decorated its
outside. The little grey shoebox arrived at an
orphanage in Belarus and during the distribution
was handed to a small boy on crutches.
Concerned that he would be disappointed with his
meager gift, one distributor stayed nearby to
watch.
Opening the little shoebox, the boy gasped and
pulled out a soft, cuddly grey mouse. Laughing, he
hugged the mouse close to his cheek and began to
look through the rest of the contents. Everything
inside the shoebox was grey and yet the little boy’s
smile grew wider and wider.
Intrigued, the distributor sat down on the boy’s
bed and asked him if he liked his shoebox. With a
huge smile on his face the little boy explained,
“Grey is my most favorite color and I had dreamed
about getting a cuddly grey mouse. I want him to
sleep on my pillow at night. Everything in this
shoebox is grey; I know it was especially made for
me!”
The story above reminds us that we should be
praying and prayerfully considering what to send
in our shoe boxes. God knows who is going to
receive every item that is purchased and donated,
and has a special place for each piece!
Did you know that in the past five years Lititz
Moravian has given 1,500 shoe boxes to be
distributed to children around the world? That's
1,500 kids who have received a Christmas present,
and 1,500 kids who heard about Jesus, and 1,500
kids who were told that someone loves them and
cares about them. What an amazing impact we are
having on changing the lives of children and their
families! I am so happy and proud to be working
with all of you on this project. We will be collecting
boxes and items to put into the boxes year round in
the elbow room! Please give any monetary
donations to any member of the 20-Somethings
(Checks can be written to "Lititz Moravian
20-Somethings" with "shoe boxes" or "OCC" in the
memo line).
two items, please contact Deb (626-1040) to
discuss your donation before bringing it to the
Through presentations, small group
with participants to share what is already
amazing in their lives. Those on the
retreat will look at the amazing things
that God is already doing in their
personal lives, in the congregations, in
their communities and throughout the
world. Sharing what is already good with
others at the retreat will give practice for
sharing the Good News in every day
settings. Throughout the course of the
retreat, Riddick will work to help retreat
participants view evangelism not as an
isolated or threatening concept, but
integrally related to mission,
stewardship, and discipleship as an
integral part of following Jesus. Join Us!!
St. Patrick used the shamrock to
teach people about the Godhead.
Holding up a shamrock, he
challenged them, “Is this one leaf, or
three?” Inevitably, people replied that
it was both, prompting St. Patrick to
draw the analogy that so, too, is God:
one God in three Persons—the Holy
Trinity.

Vision Vision Statement
Statement
We are a community that seeks first, last and always to
follow Jesus.
Faith We see a community of FAITH where all are
welcome to join in Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship,
Ministry and Evangelism. We see people on a faith
journey, actively living a Christian life in our world and
providing support for all those in need both at home and in
mission.
Hope We see a community of HOPE where people are
encouraged and equipped to develop their spiritual gifts
and to use them in the service of our Risen Lord. We see a
congregation where all are involved in a rich variety of
opportunities to serve and be empowered to follow God’s
calling.
Love We see a community of LOVE where questions
of faith are welcome, where the broken find comfort,
where unconditional acceptance and love abound, and
where all are under God’s canopy of grace and forgiveness.
