Mitchell A. Whitesell, age
54, of Blue Rapids, passed

Leona M. Peters, 92, of
Marysvillle, passed away May
12, 2012 at Community
Memorial Heathcare.
Visitation was Monday, May
14, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.,
Monday, at Kinsley Mortuary.
The family will receive friends
from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service was held at
2:00 p.m., Tuesday May 15, at
the Evangelical United Church
of Christ, Marysville.
Burial was in the Marysville
Willis Leonard Holle
Willis Leonard Holle, 76, of
Hanover, KS, died Friday, May
11, 2012 at his home after an
extended illness.
Visitation was Monday, May
14, from noon until 8 p.m. at
the Hanover Mortuary. The
family received friends from 5
to 7 p.m.
A funeral service was held at
10 a.m., Tuesday, May 15 at
Trinity Lutheran Church,
northeast of Hanover. The Rev.
Rodney Fritz officiated.
Arlyce Klipp played the
organ while David Heuer sings
"Jesus Lead Thou On". The
congregation sang “The Lord’s
away on Tuesday, May 08,
2012, at his home.
Mitch was born August 16,
1957, at Marysville, to William
J. “Bill” and Marilyn J.
(Nester) Whitesell. He attended
Valley Heights High School
and later received his GED. He
worked for the City of
Marysville in the Water and
Streets Department until an
injury forced him to retire
early.
He was a former member of
the Fraternal Order of Eagles
and a fireman with the
Marysville Volunteer Fire
Department.
Survivors include his
Cemetery.
Leona was born September
24, 1919 at Home, KS, daughter
of Fred and May Binggeli.
She went to grade school at
Midway north of Home City.
Leona went to Wichita and
worked as a waitress and later
moved back to Marysville to
work for Southwestern Bell
Telephone.
In 1947, she married
Kenneth Peters from
Washington, KS. He worked
My Shepherd”, “Just As I Am”
and “Amazing Grace”.
The pallbearers were Jeremy
Rippe, Matthew Rippe, Aaron
Rippe, Phillip Holle, Vincent
Holle and Matt Morris.
The honorary pallbearers
were Norman Pralle, Junior
Werner, Bob Martin, Andy
Bruna, John Wollenberg and
John Zabokrtsky.
Burial was in the Hanover
City Cemetery.
Willis was born on April 28,
1935 near Bremen, KS, son of
Ben and Martha (Licht) Holle.
He was baptized at Immanuel
Lutheran Church, Bremen, and
he reaffirmed his baptismal
faith through confirmation on
April 10, 1949 at Trinity
Lutheran Church, Hanover. He
attended Immanuel and Trinity
Lutheran Schools.
On April 6, 1958 he married
Berdean Kruse and Trinity
Lutheran Church. They were
blessed with four children.

Trinity Lutheran Church he had
served as an usher, school elder

Arlan C. "Ace" Edwards, 73,
of Marysville, KS, died
Thursday, May 10, 2012 at
Bryan LGH West Hospital in
Lincoln, NE.
Visitation was Monday, May
14, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at
Kinsley Mortuary. The family
received friends from 6 to 8
p.m.
A funeral service was held at
10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 15,
at the Marysville American
Legion.
Burial will be in the Home
City Cemetery with Military
Honors by the U.S. Navy and
Marysville American Legion.
Arlan was born on October
8, 1938 south of Home, KS, to
Frank and Alta Faye (Knight)
Edwards. In 1956 he graduated
from Frankfort High School.
He volunteered for the U.S.
Navy on October 1, 1956 and
served until retiring on
November 1, 1976 as Chief
Warrant Officer 2. Arlan was a
veteran of the Vietnam War in
1965 and 1971.
Arlan worked as maintenance
man at Mary Marshall
Manor in Marysville for 25
years and then moved to
Oxford, FL, where he worked
at a nursing home for 8 years.
On May 14, 1998 he married
Barbara Craig at Bushnell, FL.

Leona was a member of the
Evangelical United Church of
Christ. She enjoyed the quilting
club at her church. She liked
traveling with her husband to
Disney World, California,
Arizona, Hawaii, and the
Canary Islands.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; husband,
Kenneth, who died in 1984;
brothers, Clarence and Carl;

Willis served nine years in
the Army Reserves and held the
rank of Motor Sgt. at the time
of his honorable discharge.
He worked as a heavy equipment
operator on road construction
and for many years in
the sand and gravel business.
He worked in car sales and in
2001 retired due to health problems.
Willis was a member of the
Chamber of Commerce where
he served as President and was
on the parade committee. He
was a member of The Friends
of Hollenberg Station and a
charter member of The
National Pony Express
Association. In 1996, he had
the pleasure of carrying the
Olympic torch on horseback.
He also served on the City
Council and was a former volunteer
fireman.
He had an endless love for
his horses. Willis enjoyed riding
with his family and saddle
club. He was often seen giving
kids buggy rides. He loved outdoor
activities like gardening,

Marysville.
He was a member of the
Marysville American Legion
Post #163, Post #163 Patroit
Guard, Veterans of Foreign
Wars #10084 at Lake
Panasoffkee, Florida and the
Moose Lodge #1403.
Survivors include his wife
Barbara Edwards, Marysville;
three sons, Mark Edwards,
Lemoore, CA, Robert Flood,
IA, and Chris Flood,
Kenneth L. Sells, Agent
Whitesell, two great aunts;
Cassie Mather and Grace
Packard and a great-uncle,
Clinton Henrich.
Mitch was preceded in death
by a son Robert, a granddaughter,
Trinity and his father
William J. “Bill” Whitesell.
Memorial services are
planned for 2:00 pm, Saturday,
May 19, 2012 at Terry-Christie
Funeral Home in Waterville.
Cremation is planned.
Memorials are to be designated
