Social Research Center (American University in Cairo), Communications Officer, Cairo, Egypt September 2007–Present
Researched and prepared grants on implementing and scaling-up conditional cash transfer (CCT) pilot in collaboration
with the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity. Coordinated correspondence and research projects related to the SRC’s
role as a hub in the research consortium Pathways of Women’s Empowerment, funded by DFID, UK. Co-authored a
background document on social protection in the Arab world for UNESCO ministerial meeting.
EcoConServ, Editing Consultant, Cairo, Egypt December 2007–July 2008
Provided editing services and feedback on reports concerning the construction of a new toll-way in greater Cairo and
replacement of fishing port facilities in Yemen. Produced abstracts for academic articles on social theory.
The Wesleyan Argus, Production Manager, Middletown, CT, USA September 2004–May 2007
Managed newspaper design, trained and supervised a 10-person production staff. Oversaw bi-weekly production nights
and proofed layout of all final copies. Collaborated with the Editor-in-Chief to redesign sections of the paper.

Volunteerism and Organizational Involvement
Reason and Rhymes Refugee Center, Facilitator, Cairo, Egypt April 2010–June 2010
Planned and led two digital story-telling workshops which involved training young members of the refugee community
in Cairo to narrate and record personal stories and create short digital films using digital sound and editing tools. The
resulting digital films were presented at an exhibition at the Townhouse Gallery of Contemporary Art.
Children’s International Summer Village, Volunteer, Cairo, Egypt September 2007–January 2008
Coordinated with affiliate organizations on an International People’s Project in the Farafra Oasis focused on
introducing responsible sustainable tourism and garnering resources to aid in restoration of Farafra cultural sites. Aided
in grant-writing and planning initiatives.
Altar Magazine, Intern, Brooklyn, NY, USA June–August 2006
Edited articles and book/music/film reviews for quarterly social justice magazine. Planned and advertised a
community-organizing event that incorporated over thirty local businesses and organizations. Contacted independent
film directors, garnered and coordinated supports from over twenty sponsors for month-long female film festival.

Girls for Gender Equity, Volunteer, Brooklyn, NY, USA August 2006
Publicized and coordinated the 2006 Gender Equality festival (a community networking event) involving over thirty
local organizations. Taught photography basics and supervised outings for a photography program for female teenagers.
