College Preparation<br />
SAT and ACT<br />
Information is available in the Counseling Center for<br />
the SAT, SAT Subject Tests and the ACT. The mean<br />
SAT scores for 2011-2012 were 572 Critical Reading,<br />
595 Math, and 563 Writing. Our students who sat for<br />
SAT Subject Test exams in the 2011-2012 school year<br />
had above average scores. Means for SAT Subject Tests<br />
include Math Level 1 637, Math Level II 712, Chemistry<br />
714, English Literature 659, US History 707, World<br />
History 757, Spanish 636, Biology-E 698, Biology-M<br />
776 and Physics 726. The average ACT composite score<br />
for the same period was 26.0. <strong>Redmond</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>’s<br />
averages are well above the average of our district, state<br />
and national levels.<br />
College Visitations<br />

to visit our school and meet with interested students.<br />

Class Of 2012 - Acceptances<br />
Students in the class of 2012 were accepted to many<br />
leading universities across the nation. A sampling of acceptances<br />
includes Barnard, Boston University, Brown,<br />
Cal Poly, Colorado, Duke, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical,<br />
Gonzaga, Harvard, Michigan State, MIT, New York<br />
University, Northwestern, Purdue, Reed, Santa Clara,<br />
Stanford, Syracuse, UC Berkeley, University of <strong>Washington</strong>,<br />
USC and Whitman.<br />
Scholastic Achievement<br />
The class of 2013 has 16 National Merit Semifinalists,<br />
24 National Merit Commended Students, 1 National<br />
Hispanic Scholar. In 2012, we had 3 National Achievement<br />
Program Outstanding Participants.<br />

<strong>Redmond</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> is located in a northeastern suburb<br />
of Seattle, <strong>Washington</strong> and is one of four comprehensive<br />
high schools in the <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Washington</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />
<strong>District</strong>, encompassing suburbs of <strong>Redmond</strong>, Kirkland,<br />
Sammamish, and Juanita. One of the fastest growing<br />
areas in the state, <strong>Redmond</strong> is largely a middle to upper<br />
class community, formerly an agricultural and timber<br />
area, but now associated with rapidly expanding hightech<br />
development. Our community is very committed<br />
to our schools.<br />
<strong>Redmond</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> is a four-year high school with a<br />
total enrollment of 1900 students. A class size limit of<br />
32 exists for most courses.<br />

The mission of <strong>Redmond</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> is to provide an appropriately challenging academic experience for each individual; a<br />

Special Academic Options<br />
<strong>Redmond</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> is devoted to meeting the needs of it's students. Students have a number of options from which to<br />
choose. Students can take advantage of Honors courses, Advanced Placement courses, Tech Prep (where students earn<br />
community college credit while enrolled in classes they take at <strong>Redmond</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>), and full or part time enrollment in<br />
Running Start (college courses taken at local community colleges).<br />
Advanced Placement<br />
<strong>Redmond</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> offers nineteen Advanced<br />
Placement classes. Students may enroll in as many AP<br />
classes as their high school schedule will accommodate.<br />
While most AP classes are offered every year, several<br />
others (such as AP Art History) are offered every other<br />
year. In 2012, RHS students took 859 tests in 26 subject<br />
areas with 88% earning a grade of 3 or higher. The<br />
average score for the school on AP exams was 4.29. In<br />
addition, RHS had 57 AP Scholars, 87 AP Scholars<br />
with Distinction and 23 National AP Scholars<br />

Graduation Requirements<br />
In order to graduate and receive a diploma from <strong>Lake</strong><br />
<strong>Washington</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong>, students must demonstrate<br />
proficiency in communication standards and in<br />
the culminating project. In addition, students must<br />
have a minimum of 22 credits, which must include the<br />
following required courses for the class of 2013:<br />

One-half credit is granted for satisfactory completion of<br />
each course that meets 5 periods per week, 54 minutes<br />
per period, for 18 weeks. A passing grade is “D”.<br />
Rank In Class<br />
All students, regardless of the type of classes taken<br />
and/or the number of credits earned, are included in<br />
the class rank. All courses that receive a letter grade are<br />
used to determine class rank. Class ranking is computed<br />
semi-annually and cumulatively. Grades point<br />
averages and class ranks are not weighted.<br />
