►St. Wendelin Catholic School offers a $500 tuition
incentive for parents who are successful in seeking out and
finalizing a new family registration (K-12) for the 2012-2013

if you are referring a new family to our school.

2012 FINE ARTS SHOW
►On March 3-4, St. Wendelin 7-12 grade students displayed
work that had been completed in art class during this school
year at the Spring Fine Arts Show. Each senior, who has taken
four years of art during high school had his/her own personal
display of work he/she has done throughout their high school
art classes. This year’s seniors include Taylor Schreiner,
Kelly Faeth, J.D. Nye, Ben Noel and Abby Holman.
The work was judged by Findlay artist and teacher,
Amanda Kocsis. High school work was judged separately from
junior high work.
Congratulations to sophomore Maddie Statham who
received the BEST OF SHOW ribbon with her artwork titled
“Me Gusta”. The following students received first place
ribbons:
REALISTIC - “Quiet Hallway” by Yu Eun Kim ’14
DESIGN - “Quatra Foils” by Terrence Hoening ’12
PEOPLE - “Me” by Mina Lee ’13
3D - “Grecian Urn” by Rob Park ’15
UNREAL - “Pot of Destiny VIII” by Maddie Statham ’14

KINDERGARTEN SCREENING
►We are now accepting registrations for Kindergarten for the
2012-2013 school year. St. Wendelin offers all-day, everyday
classes.
Kindergarten Screening will be held, Tuesday, March 13,
at St. Wendelin Parish Hall. Please call the school
(419-435-8144) for more information and to schedule an
appointment. Children must be five (5) years old on or before
August 1, 2012.
Soup and Bread
This week’s Tuesday Soup and Bread, sponsored by
the Prayer Shawl ministry, Peace and Justice team,
Guadalupe Society and the Bi-lingual Bible Study, will
feature our heavenly mother, Mary. Often a source of
misunderstanding for our Protestant neighbors and some
Catholics, Father Barron journeys to the humble remains
of Mary’s house in Nazareth, to the ruins of the ancient city
of Ephesus and to the great Marian shrines of Lourdes and
Guadalupe to explain the Church’s teachings about Mary
as the Mother of God, the Immaculate Conception and the
Dogma of the Assumption. Please join us at 5:30 in the
Parish Hall for an enjoyable meal, 6:00 DVD presentation,
and Vespers at 7:15.
WE WON!
►St. Wendelin Catholic School placed first with the Lego
Robotics at the Innovation Fair held on February 10 at Fostoria
Middle School. Joan Nye Reinhard, Executive Director of the
Fostoria Economic Development Corporation presented a check
for $600 on March 2 to Advisors Mr. Ron Bowerman, Mrs. Susan
Tiell and members of the Innovation Fair Team. Mr. Bowerman
is looking to purchase more robotics supplies and sensors with the
award money.
Team members include: Sixth graders – Emma Prince,
Alex Hill, Kayla Hunter & Patrick Castillo; 7 th Graders – Luke
Volkmer & Maco Gonzalez; Juniors – Logan Borer & Philip
Streacker; Seniors – Josh Kinn & Haley Wolfe.
S.T.E.M.M. SPEAKER SERIES #2
►On February 27, Dr. James Kettinger was the guest
speaker for the S.T.E.M.M. series at St. Wendelin Catholic
School. Dr. Kettinger is the Director of Emergency
Medicine at Henry County Hospital in Napoleon, OH and
previously worked as an attending physician at the student
health services at Bowling Green State University for 18
years. He advised the students on course recommendations
and the study skills and discipline necessary in preparation
for medical school.
Answering questions from the students, Dr. Kettinger
spoke in detail of the challenges and also the rewards of a
career in medicine. Dr. Kettinger commented that he was
very impressed that the students in attendance already had
firm goals and dreams in place for their future in health
care.
