LEVEL YEARS OF SERVICE
Using Short-Term Disability Bank (STDB)
■ STDB works like a short-term disability plan. You use
STDB for your own short-term personal injury or illness
after being absent three consecutive work days or 24
consecutive scheduled work hours for employees who do
not work 8 hour shifts (must use “Available” ETO for the
first three days/24 hours missed)
■ if your STDB is exhausted, you must use “Available” ETO
■ after 90 days of illness or injury, eligible employees may be
covered by BJC’s long-term disability benefit
■ ETO time is paid based on your primary rate of pay in
effect when the hours are used, and does not include shift
differentials or bonuses
Your Short-Term Disability Bank (STDB)
■ the company provides STDB based on your hours paid, or
scheduled and canceled due to lack of work, but not on
hours cashed in (payout) or severance pay
■ a maximum of 2,080 hours worked/scheduled per calendar
year is taken into account
■ up to 64 hours (8 days) of STDB per calendar year will be
added to your bank
■ you may accumulate a maximum of 520 STDB hours;
any additional unused hours are forfeited (unless
“grandfathered” to a higher limit)
