EMPTY TANK TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS<br />

The contractor shall ensure:<br />
(a) Tank is empty (no tank shall be transported whilst containing free product).<br />
(b) Tank is vented using approved vent fitted with 500 micron nominal aperture brass gauze. <strong>Tanks</strong> shall not be<br />
transported whilst pressurised.<br />
(c) All other openings are plugged to prevent the escape of vapour or entry of any source of ignition.<br />
(d) Tank is marked with tank number <strong>and</strong> the common name of the product it contained, i.e. petrol, diesel,<br />
kerosene, etc.<br />
(e) Appropriate Class diamond is displayed, at least 40 cm x 40 cm in size. Warning to read: “Class 3 Flammable<br />
Liquid, no smoking or naked light within 8 metres.”<br />
(f) Tank to be labelled in accordance with the <strong>Code</strong> of Practice for the Design Installation <strong>and</strong> Operation of<br />
<strong>Underground</strong> <strong>Petroleum</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> Systems, 1992, section 11.1.7.<br />
(g) Spray paint on the tank <strong>and</strong> the site name it came from.<br />
(h) Transport operator must carry New Zeal<strong>and</strong> Hazardous Substances Dangerous Goods Declaration.<br />
