Bowood Carvers - carvers<br />

Bowood Carvers have carving workshops<br />

two evenings a week, one day (normally<br />

Thursday) during the week <strong>and</strong> Saturday<br />

mornings. Beginners are welcome <strong>and</strong> we<br />

have a selection of club tools for beginners<br />

to use until they buy their own.<br />

Come <strong>and</strong> chat to the woodcarvers <strong>and</strong><br />

woodworkers <strong>and</strong> view their latest projects.<br />

Workshop tea <strong>and</strong> cake may be available if you get your<br />

Late Additions<br />

Having had a previous career<br />

as a two dimensional graphic<br />

designer in London, Geoffrey<br />

now works in three dimensions<br />

mainly in native limestones. There<br />

is an opportunity to see finished<br />

pieces <strong>and</strong> works-in-progress of<br />

stone carving/sculpture <strong>and</strong> letter<br />

carving.<br />

01 - Art Exhibition Preview<br />

Private viewing of the Art Exhibition<br />

7.00pm to 9.00pm - Marden House<br />

Free to Friends, Artists <strong>and</strong> invited guests.<br />

Please bring your invitation along with you for a<br />

complimentary glass of wine.<br />

Starting the <strong>Festival</strong> off, the popular Open Art Exhibition<br />

is previewed at Marden House, open free to friends <strong>and</strong><br />

patrons of the <strong>Festival</strong>, participating artists <strong>and</strong> their invited<br />

guests. Open to the public throughout the festival. There is<br />

always a wide variety of work of an ever improving st<strong>and</strong>ard.<br />

Friday 5th October<br />

02 - Opening of the <strong>Festival</strong>: An Old<br />

Time <strong>Music</strong> Hall<br />

7.30pm - Marden House<br />

Admission £8 (£6 Friends)<br />

This traditional variety show is presented by Mike Polack of<br />

the Wharf Theatre with David Bevan on piano. As well as<br />

featuring all the old favourite songs of the Edwardian <strong>and</strong><br />

Victorian era, the famous Wilson <strong>and</strong> Keppel s<strong>and</strong> dance,<br />

<strong>and</strong> a short sketch by Compton Bassett Village Theatre,<br />

elements of the Parisian <strong>Music</strong> Hall are incorporated with the<br />

appearance of a Maurice Chevalier look-alike from Cherhill<br />

Village Theatre <strong>and</strong> a troupe of French Can-Can dancers.<br />

Audience participation is paramount so do dress for the<br />

occasion <strong>and</strong> come prepared to heckle <strong>and</strong> sing <strong>and</strong> have<br />

fun!<br />
