From the sublime soprano voice of Rachel Gilliam, to the<br />
blatant stealing of Bach’s string music for James Allard’s<br />
xylophone; this is a rare opportunity to experience<br />
the coming together of voice <strong>and</strong> tuned percussion,<br />
celebrating early <strong>and</strong> contemporary music alike.<br />

Peter <strong>and</strong> Michelle live <strong>and</strong> work in <strong>Calne</strong>.<br />
Peter teaches music at The John Bentley<br />
School <strong>and</strong> Michelle teaches singing both<br />
privately <strong>and</strong> at St Mary’s School. They<br />
are joined by Daniel to present an evening<br />
of song. The first half will be settings of<br />
poets of the British<br />
Isles, including<br />
Auden, Burns <strong>and</strong> Macdiarmid. The<br />
second half will be based on theatre,<br />
including a variety of pieces from the<br />
world of opera, operetta <strong>and</strong> music<br />
theatre.<br />
14 - <strong>Calne</strong> Silver B<strong>and</strong><br />

With a history that dates back to the 1920’s, <strong>and</strong> having<br />
previously performed in our twinned towns in Germany <strong>and</strong><br />
France, <strong>and</strong> for HRH The Prince of Wales, <strong>Calne</strong> Silver B<strong>and</strong><br />
make a welcomed return to our <strong>Festival</strong> programme with a<br />
performance of traditional <strong>and</strong> popular music.<br />
15 - CODA Lily Packer: Piano<br />
9.30pm - Marden House<br />
Admission Free<br />
Rounding off the evening will be one of John Bentley’s<br />
talented musicians. Making her <strong>Festival</strong> debut, Lily Packer<br />
will be performing a varied programme of music for solo<br />
piano.<br />
16 - Voices from Primary Schools<br />

lunchtime recital<br />
Voices from the Primary Schools of<br />
<strong>Calne</strong> <strong>and</strong> the surrounding District<br />
are here to astound you with their<br />
fantastic singing. They will entertain<br />
you as individual schools <strong>and</strong> as a<br />
massed choir. A sea of smiling faces<br />
<strong>and</strong> joyous song awaits you.<br />
17 - <strong>Music</strong> Scholars from Marlborough<br />
College<br />
7.30pm - Marden House<br />
Admission £7 (£5 Friends)<br />
<strong>Music</strong> at Marlborough College enjoys a long <strong>and</strong> illustrious<br />
history. There are more than 40 <strong>Music</strong> Scholars, some of<br />
whom perform regularly for the National Youth Orchestra<br />
of Great Britain. The <strong>Music</strong> Department is both ambitious<br />
<strong>and</strong> dedicated to the education of young people, inspiring<br />
them with the beauty <strong>and</strong> rewards of music making. Their<br />
diverse <strong>Festival</strong> programme will include works for piano,<br />
flute, violin <strong>and</strong> double bass. This is an evening not to be<br />
missed!<br />
18 - CODA …And now for the PYP’s<br />

As a fitting end to this Young Performers’ Day, Mary<br />
Pilcher-Clayton will introduce some Promising Young<br />
Performers from local schools to play for you.<br />
