• Performance analysis and optimization. At Microsoft Performance Analysis and Research Center (PARC) in
Redmond, WA, worked together with MS experts to analyze application performance (including stress testing), optimize
product design and investigate compatibility with Windows Server 2003.
• Design and implementation of video-conferencing server systems. Elaborated Windows 2000 based solutions
with installation, configuration and support of SQL Server, IIS, and multi-tier FVC server software. Implemented
several Active Directory models with dynamic DNS for different installation scenarios, including multi-tree
forests with customized schema and trust relationships. Designed several architectural components and ports diagrams
for FVC multi-tier application server.
• Cluster implementation for high availability solution. Designed and implemented cluster solutions based on
SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Cluster Server and Compaq CL cluster hardware (using shared SCSI RAID or SAN
storage). Wrote installation guides for implementing High Availability solution for FVC application server and configuring
operating system and server applications. Performed cluster maintenance/troubleshooting.
• SQL Cluster DataCenter installation. This short time contract was performed for MirrorPlus Technologies
(http://www.mirrorplus.com). Built two datacenter Compaq clusters (ProLiant 8500R and ML530), based on Windows
2000 Advanced Server, from scratch, configured network for clustering, installed and configured SQL Server
2000 cluster, created and tuned all necessary cluster resources. Both clusters were using Compaq StorageWorks
SAN storage with RAID 10 configured hardware RAID.
• Cisco routers / proxies integration. Designed and implemented Cisco interoperability solution using Cisco MCM
gatekeeper / proxy servers (based on Cisco 26xx / 36xx routers) for managing V 2 oIP networks with directory gatekeepers,
H.323 proxies, and QoS. Designed several integration solutions for different multi-zone scenarios used
by customers. Contributed into designing proxy and zones support in FVC server.
• Installation and support of customer servers. Working in a team (Professional Services group), implemented
FVC solutions for customers, built single and cluster servers, installed and configured all software, performed problems
troubleshooting. Successfully implemented and supported FVC servers for AT&T, Verizon, EDS, Goldman
Sachs, EMBC, GCC, VIA Networks, CalTrans. Performed phone-based consulting and remote troubleshooting, -
last example was spyware detection and cleanup at Verizon and AT&T servers.
• Security lockdown for FVC server solution. Designed, implemented and documented the security lockdown
proposal for FVC application servers to protect from viruses, eliminate spyware and minimize hackers’ intrusions.
This included reconfiguration of anonymous web application accounts for IIS 5.0.
• FVC server quality assurance. As a senior engineer in the Engineering & QA Department, was involved in a
high-level white box QA testing for FVC server components. Major accomplishments were in the installation and
gatekeeper testing. Participated in the product design and architecture and contributed into database development
and gatekeeper server development for FVC server.
• Video End Points Certification. This senior QA project included design, implementation and maintenance of the
endpoints Certification Lab – to test video end points for interoperability with FVC software. I had designed the
testing specifications, the general test plan, and elaborated five detailed test cases for comprehensive video end
points testing. Performed actual QA testing of more than 10 different video end points.
• Network administration and troubleshooting. Worked with IT department to troubleshoot Windows 2000 and
NT 4.0 server and network problems, primarily DHCP / DNS / WINS, VPN / NAT / firewall and different TCP/IP issues.
Helped in troubleshooting Exchange 5.5 server. Participated in implementing the merge of two corporate
networks (500+ nodes) in CA and NH and migration from NT 4.0 to Windows 2000. Contributed to design and implementation
of the company’s intranet.
• Training support & engineering staff. Designed, wrote and conducted series of seminars and presentations for
FVC engineers on different subjects like ISDN, Windows 2000 Active Directory, Windows 2000 security/encryption,
MS Cluster server, Cisco gatekeeper/proxy software, SQL database maintenance.
Sep. 1997 - Jul. 2000 Lead Systems Engineer, Stack Ltd., Tomsk, Russia
Stack Ltd. is a large systems integrator and ISP, specializing in building enterprise network solutions for corporate customers,
professional authorized education and certification.
• Network administration, configuration and troubleshooting of Stack Ltd. network (10 Windows NT servers in
4 domains, 8 Windows 2000 Active Directory trees, 10 Novell IntranetWare servers in 6 trees, UNIX- and NTbased
Internet and Proxy servers, firewall, messaging server (Exchange 5.5), database server (SQL Server 7.0),
over 100 Windows 95/NT workstations). Worked in a team as leading specialist in Microsoft-related topics. Designed
and implemented Windows NT/2000 domains and two IntranetWare trees for the purposes of education
center; installed and configured specialized software and performed network administration and troubleshooting.
Implemented migration from NT 4.0 to Windows 2000.
