Displays with More than Two Dimensions<br />

All of the optimal scaling procedures involving dimension reduction allow you to select<br />

the number of dimensions included in the analysis. For analyses with three or more dimensions,<br />

these procedures produce three-dimensional scatterplots or matrices of scatterplots.<br />

Three-Dimensional Scatterplots<br />

Figure 1.2 shows a three-dimensional plot of object scores produced by a homogeneity<br />

analysis with four dimensions.<br />

Although only the first three dimensions are displayed on the scatterplot, information<br />

about all dimensions is included when the chart is created. You can choose to display<br />

different combinations of dimensions on the scatterplot by selecting Displayed from the<br />

Series menu in the Chart Editor. Figure 1.3 shows the 3-D Scatterplot Displayed Data<br />

dialog box, with dimension 4 selected to be displayed in place of dimension 3. The plot<br />

displaying these selections is shown in Figure 1.4.
