DANCE SECTION<br />

DANCE REGULATIONS<br />

These should be read in conjunction with the General Rules on page 2.<br />

1. Time limits must be observed (found in syllabus). Checks may be made.<br />

2. We reserve the right to commence classes 30 minutes earlier than the published time. It is<br />

advised that you arrive at least an hour before your class is due to start, and be ready should<br />

classes run early.<br />

3. Tapes should be rewound and ready to play. CDs should have the music to be used on first<br />

track only. They should be placed in the tray at the back of the hall, near the desk. Please name<br />

the tape or CD and place it in the correct order into the correct numbered box for the class you<br />

are entered in. As each class finishes, collect your tape or CD from the entrance hall where<br />

you will also find Report sheets and any certificates gained as soon as they are ready.<br />

4. No voice accompaniment on Song and Dance music.<br />

5. No ‘tap sounds’ effect on tap tapes.<br />

6. Only 13 years and over permitted on pointes.<br />

7. No props are permitted in Classical Ballet classes.<br />

8. To take part in this Festival, competitors must not be attending full-time dance education.<br />

9. MEDALS. Second place medals will be awarded in classes with six or more competitors. Third<br />

place medals will be awarded in classes with 10 or more competitors.<br />

10. All music, characterisation and dances should be age appropriate and will be marked accordingly.<br />

STAGE DIMENSIONS<br />

The available space for dancing is 5 metres by 5 metres.<br />

Time Limits<br />

10 years and under 1½ mins. is allowed except in classes D4 and D10 where it is 2 mins.<br />

11 years and over 2 mins. is allowed except in classes D4 and D10 where it is 2½ mins.<br />

Duets/Trios 3 mins.<br />

Groups 5 mins.<br />

11 years and over<br />

Groups £10.00<br />

Solo fee £4.50 Duet fee £5.50 Trios £6.60<br />
