He has wide experience as a teacher, teaching the violin, viola and piano to diploma level, as well as<br />

academic music to Advanced level. He has taught at Cheltenham College and St Swithun’s School,<br />

Winchester, and is currently Director of Music at an independent school in Dorset. He organises and<br />

conducts orchestral courses for children in the South West, including some under the umbrella of<br />

Satips.<br />

Roy is a Grade and Diploma examiner for ABRSM working throughout the UK and South East Asia. He<br />

is an adjudicator member of the British Federation of Music Festivals, with recent work at Portsmouth<br />

(strings and choral), Southampton (piano), Weymouth (organ, piano and strings), Yeovil (general)<br />

and Saltash (piano) Festivals. He also enjoys composing, and he has a number of works for violin and<br />

piano and small jazz groups published by Subject Publications.<br />

SPEECH & DRAMA<br />

ANN NEWSON LRAM, RAM(dip)<br />

Ann Newson made her first stage appearance at the age of five and has since performed in many leading<br />

roles. She studied Speech & Drama at the Royal Academy of Music and then pursued a career in teaching<br />

and lecturing in Drama Colleges and schools throughout England. She has also directed many plays and<br />

musicals for children and adults.<br />

Ann is a member of the LAMDA board of Examiners. She has examined throughout the United Kingdom and<br />

in Australia, California, Dubai, Hong Kong, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Singapore, South Africa, Spain and Sri<br />

Lanka. She runs her own training company specialising in Public Speaking and Presentation Skills for<br />

business people.<br />

As a member of the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech she has<br />

adjudicated in England, Northern Ireland, Eire and Hong Kong.<br />

DANCE<br />

CLAIRE JENNINGS<br />

Miss Claire Jennings received her training at the Royal Academy of Dance, where she gained her<br />

Licenciate in 1978. More recently she gained her B.PhiI (Hops) in ballet and contextual studies.<br />

She has taught extensively both in her own schools and private establishments for 37years, as<br />

well as choreographing both amateur and professional cabarets and showcases. Whilst coaching<br />

at Richmond Ice Rink, she also choreographed the opening sequence for the Robin Cousins TV<br />

Spectacular.<br />

Many past pupils are currently appearing in the West End, provincial theatres, commercial TV<br />

and Video.<br />

Miss Jennings has since gained her MA(Dip) in Ballet studies and PGCA in adjudication. She is<br />

currently enjoying presenting Workshops, Adjudicating and running her own schools. She is<br />

also delighted to have joined the All England panel in 2002.<br />
