Geochemistry of subvolcanic alkaline rock series of the Roztoky Intrusive
Centre, Česke středohoři Mts., Bohemia
Summary
Geochemie subvulkanischer Alkaligesteinserien des Rongstocker
Intrusivzentrums, Böhmisches Mittelgebirge, Böhmen
J. ULRYCH
The Roztoky Intrusive Centre (RIC) of the Česke středohoři Mts. is formed by a crater vent
filled by trachytic breccia with minor trachyte and phonolite intrusions. Hypabyssal bodies
of monzodiorite - "rongstockite" (MD), essexites (E) and sodalite Syenites (SS), together
with more than 1,000 almost radially arranged dykes, occur in the neighbourhood of the
centre; intrusion of olivine nephelinite crops out at its northern margin. Hypabyssal E-MD-SS
(D.I. = 46-64) and two linked coexisting dyke series were distinguished. The weakly
alkaline series - WAS (D.I. = 39-81) is formed by trachybasalt -gauteite/(camptonite) -
bostonite/sodalite syenite porphyry - trachyte - rhyolite? and the strongly alkaline series -
SAS (D.I. = 39-87) by tephrite/basanite - camptonite/monchiquite - tephriphonolite -
phonolite/tinguaite/nepheline syenite porphyry dykes. Formation of the primary magma of
the whole subvolcanic suite can be explained by partial melting of swelled upper mantle
beneath the Ohře Rift zone. Subsequent fractional crystallization of the parental magma of an
alkali basalt type in a high level crustal chamber causes the origin of all differentiation series.
The presence of abundant hornblendite (H) cumulates in SS and camptonites confirm this
assumption. Almost single-step emptying with a certain dying-out period of the layered
chamber could represent a presupposed mechanism of genesis of the whole rock suite.
Crystallization of the hypabyssal series proceeds in three stages: early (1,150-1,050° C),
main (700-400° C) and late magmatic (

unterschieden. Die schwach alkalische Serie - WAS (weakly alkaline series, D.I. = 36-81)
wird gebildet von Trachybasalt - Gauteit/(Camptonit) - Bostonit/(Sodalith-Syenit-Porphyr) -
Trachyt - Rhyolit? - Gängen. Die stark alkalische Serie - SAS (strong alkaline series, D.I. = 39-
