CHAPTER 4<br />
OFFERING PRAYER ACCORDING TO SUNNAH<br />
<strong>The</strong> Qiyam (<strong>The</strong> standing posture)<br />
In a state of ablution, stand facing the “ Qiblah” keeping the feet apart with a distance of just 4<br />
fingers between them. <strong>The</strong>n raise the hands up to the ears, touching the thumb on the lower part<br />
of the ear, palms facing the “ Qiblah” and the fingers in the natural state - neither stuck together<br />
nor wide open. <strong>The</strong>n make the intention (Niyah), and proclaiming “ Allahu Akbar” bring the<br />
hands downwards folding them below the navel. Keep the right hand above the left, with the<br />
middle three fingers resting on the left wrist, and with the thumb and little finger encircling the<br />
left wrist. Now recite the “ Sanaa” (the Glorification) as follows:-<br />
Sanaa (the Glorification)<br />
Subhaanakal-laahumma wa bihamdika wa tabaarakasmuka wa ta-alaa jadduka wa laa Ilaaha<br />
gayruk.<br />
"Purity is to You, O Allah! And I Praise You, Most Auspicious is Your name and Supreme is<br />
Your majesty; and there is no God except You."<br />
<strong>The</strong>n after reciting the “ Taawuz” and “ Tasmiyah” , recite the Surah alFatehah.<br />
Taawuz (seeking Allah’ s refuge)<br />
Aoozu bilLaahi minash-shaytaanir-rajeem<br />
"I seek the refuge of Allah from Satan, the accursed."<br />
Tasmiyah (mentioning the name of Allah)<br />
Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem.<br />
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Mercif<strong>ul</strong><br />
Surah alFatehah<br />
AlHamdu lillahe rabbil-alameen ----AlRahmaani-Raheem ----Maliki Yaumid-Deen
