Visi<strong>to</strong>rs had <strong>the</strong> chance <strong>to</strong><br />
watch live demonstrations of<br />
a professional sheep-herding<br />
dog, as well as sheepshearing<br />
demonstrations.<br />
This year’s festival also featured<br />
lamb cooking demonstrations,<br />
during which several<br />
area cooks prepared<br />
delicious lamb dishes and<br />
shared tricks, tips and recipes. Plenty of free lamb sampling was available. O<strong>the</strong>r activities<br />
included live musical entertainment and children’s activities.<br />
The Sheep & Fiber Fest also included a Kid’s Pedal Trac<strong>to</strong>r Pull & Auction. Children<br />
ages 3 <strong>to</strong> 10 had <strong>the</strong> opportunity <strong>to</strong> participate in a miniaturized version of a farm<br />
trac<strong>to</strong>r pull, while adults could place bids <strong>to</strong> win a fully cus<strong>to</strong>mized, collectible pedal<br />
trac<strong>to</strong>r from <strong>the</strong> auction block.<br />
The au<strong>the</strong>ntic cast metal pedal trac<strong>to</strong>rs were fully cus<strong>to</strong>mized by three local body<br />
shops: Kovalcheck’s Au<strong>to</strong> Body, T & A Services and Michael’s Au<strong>to</strong> Sales. These<br />
body shops donated <strong>the</strong>ir labor and materials <strong>to</strong> cus<strong>to</strong>mize <strong>the</strong> generic metal trac<strong>to</strong>rs<br />
purchased by WP&B. This year’s cus<strong>to</strong>mized pedal trac<strong>to</strong>rs were purchased by Andrea<br />
Dobbs of Wind Ridge, Mary Pruss of Washing<strong>to</strong>n and Wyatt Whipkey of Holbrook.<br />
The Kid’s Pedal Trac<strong>to</strong>r Pull & Auction was sponsored by Log Cabin Fence Company,<br />
Ross Trac<strong>to</strong>r Sales and <strong>Waynesburg</strong> Agway Service.<br />
A Pho<strong>to</strong>graphy Contest and Exhibit was also held in support of <strong>the</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Sheep &<br />
Fiber Fest. Contest winners were chosen prior <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> festival, and all submitted pho<strong>to</strong>s<br />
were displayed at <strong>the</strong> PA Welcome Center off I-79 just north of Mt. Morris. Phyllis<br />
Woods of Nemacolin won Best of Show for her pho<strong>to</strong>graph entitled “Winter in Lippencott.”<br />
50’s Fest & Car Cruise<br />
More than 200 classic cars, trucks and<br />
mo<strong>to</strong>rcycles traveled <strong>to</strong> down<strong>to</strong>wn<br />
<strong>Waynesburg</strong> for <strong>the</strong> 8th annual 50’s Fest<br />
& Car Cruise on Saturday, Sept. 12,<br />
<strong>2009</strong>, filling High Street as well as several<br />
side streets and parking lots.<br />
The event, hosted by <strong>Waynesburg</strong><br />
<strong>Prosperous</strong> & Beautiful and sponsored in<br />
part by Hot Rod’s House of Bar-B-Que<br />
and WANB Radio, offered numerous<br />
activities reminiscent of <strong>the</strong> 1950’s along<br />
with <strong>the</strong> car show. Kids of all ages enjoyed<br />
contests in bubble gum blowing,<br />
