The petitioner Thiru M. Nagarajan and the Public Authority represented by the Public<br />
Information Officer/Joint Commissioner, Arulmigu Subramania Swamy Temple, Tiruchendur,<br />
Thoothukudi district were present for the enquiry.<br />
The petitioner made an application under RTI Act on 17.4.09 asking for extensive<br />
information on ten items for which the information has been supplied partly on 21.4.09 and<br />
on 28.4.09. A review of the queries raised by the petitioner and the information supplied by<br />
the Public Authority reveals that the Public Authority is as much in default in supplying the<br />
information as such as the petitioner in asking information which are very much extensive in<br />
nature liable to be rejected under sec.7(9) of the RTI Act. However, in view of the fact that<br />
this has been taken for enquiry today the Joint Commissioner who was present for the<br />
enquiry has promised to supply the missing information to the petitioner within a weeks time
from the date of receipt of this order. The petitioner is also advised to desist from asking<br />
questions which will attract sec.7(9) of the RTI Act. This Act is meant to ensure<br />
transparency and accountability and not to paralise the administration of any public authority,<br />
this may be kept in mind by the petitioner and the public authority.<br />
