HAIKU : Definition
HAIKU : What is Haiku?
Haiku are often called the world’s shortest poetic form.
A haiku consists of 17 syllables- in three lines of five,
seven and five syllables respectively.
Many people enjoy attending haiku gatherings where
they share their own poems with others.
A unique feature of haiku is that they evoke seasonal
feelings.
HAIKU : A wild sea _ concept
Concept:
More focus to the meaning of Sado.
Sado, an island, was known for its long history of political
exiles. As a consequence, the island, surrounded here
by a “wild sea” and standing under the vast Amanogawa
(literally, River of Heaven), or Milky Way, comes to embody
the feeling of loneliness, both of the exiles at Sado and of
the traveler himself.
The poem has a majestic, slow moving rhythm, which
suggests the vastness and scale of the landscape.
The island surrounded by a “wild sea” also embodies the
longing of the exiles for their distant loved ones. The Milky
Way laid down by the Creative(zoka) becomes like a boat
or a bridge reaching out across the dark waters to the
waiting exiles at Sado, that is reaching out to the lonely
soul of the poet.
HAIKU : A wild sea
Thesis:
Use the meaning of Sado, an exile,
Telling a story as literally as what is inside of Haiku.
A wild sea surround the island, Sado. there are dragons
around Sado island for guarding.
Like a story of Rapunzel, an poet is waiting someone to
escape. Knight is the person who try to rescue the poet
(princess in the storyboard)
Like 2nd and 3rd line of the poem, stretching to Sado Isle,
the River of Heaven, the Milky Way between exile and darkwarters
exists like fog at the first time. Later, helps them to
escape.
