Competition, American Culinary Federation’s Junior Chefs Competition, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs dinner, The Campus Kitchen at Atlantic City, Atlantic Cape’s Organic Greenhouse, Strudels Bakeshop, Culinary Student Association, Baking & Pastry Club and food shows. Full-time classes meet five hours a day, Monday through Friday, in morning, afternoon or evening sessions. Part-time classes are available also. Registration Under Way for Winter and Spring Sessions Registration for both winter and spring sessions at Atlantic Cape is under way. Normal registration hours are weekdays, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with extended hours to 6:30 p.m., Dec. 3. Winter term classes will be held Mondays-Saturdays, Jan. 2-16. Spring semester classes begin Jan. 22. Depending on their status as new or returning students, students can register for spring classes in person or by mail, fax and online through Jan. 21. Atlantic Cape to Offer Information Technology Certifications Atlantic Cape will offer a variety of information technology certifications, including career training and IT professional series courses, in 2013. Computer System Support and Analyst Technician enhances the Computer Technical Solution Series by focusing on the principles of desktop and network management, beginning Jan. 28. Certified Ethical Hacker training allows students the opportunity to review the processes and tools hackers use to exploit systems and learn how to deploy effective countermeasures to prevent malicious attacks, beginning Feb. 12. In Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), students will learn how to set up and maintain network infrastructure services and learn how to secure a network environment using industry standard technologies, beginning June 3. Computer Repair Technician (A+ Certification) prepares students to work with the latest hardware technologies, including: RAID, Serial Attached SCSI, USB and Peripheral Component Interconnect Express, beginning June 3. Casino Career Institute Offers Gaming Training The Casino Career Institute has prepared more than 50,000 people for rewarding careers in gaming and continues to offer top-notch training for those who wish to enter the casino profession. The Half the Time at Half the Price Program offers table games professionals an opportunity to increase their value and marketability to employers by learning a new game in a short-term, low-cost program. 4
CCI table games alumni who graduated more than three years ago can refresh their skills as they return to the gaming workforce with an Alumni Refresher Program. Graduates may take the refresher program course only for the games they previously took with CCI. Those who have graduated from CCI within the past three years can revive their skills with the Alumni Practice Program. Classes currently offered are Introduction to Casino Games–Blackjack, Craps, Baccarat, Poker, Pai Gow Tiles, Roulette and Pai Gow Poker. CCI also provides training in non-dealing casino professions such as Surveillance Training. Gaming classes begin every two weeks. Gift Certificates on Sale for Practice Time on College’s Flight Simulator Gift certificates for time on Atlantic Cape’s flight simulator are available this holiday season. Cost to use the simulator is $90 an hour; pilots must be 18 or older and have the proper U.S. credentials. Additional restrictions apply. PECC Campaign Under Way; Materials Available Online The 2012-2013 Atlantic-Cape Public Employees Charitable Campaign is under way at the college. In 1985, the New Jersey state legislature created a workplace campaign for all public employees in the state of New Jersey. This drive supports the work of a multitude of approved charitable agencies and organizations, including the Atlantic Cape Foundation. The PECC deadline is Thursday, Dec. 20. This year’s PECC form can be filled out at your computer and saved for your records and will automatically be emailed to Torrina Bennett-Michael, director of community & cultural affairs. Rutgers at Atlantic Cape Representative to Visit CMCC Dec. 5 A Rutgers at Atlantic Cape representative will visit the Cape May County campus in the first floor lobby, from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5. Members of the community are invited to learn about the B.A. and B.S. degree programs Rutgers offers at the Rutgers Lifelong Learning Center, at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing campus, including bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Hospitality Management, Labor & Employment Relations, Liberal Studies, Nursing (RN to BSN), Political Science, Psychology and Public Health. Additionally, there will be information available about graduate programs in Education, Business Administration (MBA), Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) and Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace. This event is free and open to the public. No appointment is needed. Attendees should bring an unofficial transcript.
