DEDICATION
In appreciation of two students of Bible Chronology who stood as lone voices in
addressing the two great chronological divides (only Anstey addressed both), this book
is gratefully dedicated. The first is Sir Edward Denny who in 1849 demonstrated the
solution to the Crux Chronologorum in his work, Forgiveness Seventy and Sevenfold.
Denny, who received a knighthood, was associated with the Brethren movement in
Britain. In dealing with the chronology from the Exodus to the Temple, Denny set out
the reality of passages like Deuteronomy 6:23, He brought us out that He might bring
us in. The ultimate purpose of the Exodus was worship in the Temple; and whatever
may have hindered that goal was in the final Divine reckoning ignored!
The second and better-known work is The Romance of Bible Chronology (1913) by
Martin Anstey, a close friend of G. Campbell Morgan. Anstey showed convincingly
from Scripture and history that the Seventy Weeks must be counted from near the time
Daniel received the prophecy rather than 90 years later.
While there will be a number of disagreements with these two authors, I am thankful
for the inestimable contribution they have made to the study of Bible Chronology.
