Your
Dreams
Mary Wright of Denver, Colorado was tired
of climbing the corporate ladder, working
long hours with little to show for it. She
chose Arbonne as her Plan B, and when she lost
her job, her successful business became her Plan A!
My Arbonne journey, and what I call the best decision I’ve ever made,
began in March of 2006. I had been using the NutriMinC ® RE 9® line for a
few months and decided that this business opportunity was something
I could not pass up. I was working my way up the corporate ladder
as an accountant and CPA for a contract accounting firm. I worked
hard to get my Bachelors and Masters degrees from a prestigious
university, and continued on to get my CPA license. I thought working
hard and climbing the corporate ladder was something I would always
do, and in all honesty I was excited to do it. Around age 28, however, I
became a bit jaded, realizing how much time was traded for money in
the typical corporate environment. Everyone around me — and even I
at times — was working upwards of 70 or 80 hours a week. I saw their
health and spirits deteriorate before my eyes. If I did a good job, I got
a pat on the back and more work to do. I realized I was meant to do
more — something bigger, something smarter. Within a few months of
this revelation, my friend and former co-worker, ENVP Tarrah Brandsma,
sent me an invitation to her Arbonne launch Presentation. I had never
heard of Arbonne, and I rolled my eyes, thinking, “What in the world
has she gotten herself into?” I was reluctant at first, but I thought I
would be supportive and try the anti-aging product. I had used a lot of
different products and none seemed to work. When she handed me
a sample kit, she casually mentioned that Arbonne offers a generous
compensation plan.
“I realized I was meant to do more —
something bigger, something smarter.”
The products changed the appearance of my skin within days. People
were complimenting my skin for the first time in my life and I found myself
sharing Arbonne with them. I knew the products would never end up
in that cosmetic graveyard I had under my sink, so I began my due
diligence. I researched and asked Tarrah hundreds of questions. The
former auditor in me was skeptical until I really understood how brilliant
this business model is. I learned that network marketing is a simple form
of distribution whereby you leave out the middleman and are able to pass
on better products and pricing to clients. Independent Consultants are
paid for product sales, and can train others to do the same, allowing
them to leverage their time by building a team. It didn’t surprise me to
learn that many of the best-known financial experts and entrepreneurs
in the world support network marketing. I liked that I could control the
amount of effort I put in — if I worked harder, I would get paid for it! I
knew this would be a smart way to help secure my future. I could choose
excuses or dreams. I jumped in with both feet and chose my dreams!
“To be successful, you have to find a way,
not an excuse.”
A year into my business, I earned the white Mercedes-Benz, and three
and a half years later, I promoted to National Vice President. As with
anything worth doing, there were many challenges along the way. For me,
the biggest hurdles to overcome were my concern about what others
thought, self-doubt and taking things too personally. Personal growth
helped me overcome these obstacles. I learned that with Arbonne, you
get paid to become a better version of yourself! The business plan makes
sense — network marketing is the business of the future. The products
work and are the best on the market. My self-doubt still comes and goes,
but seeing my upline’s success has made me realize that if they can do
it, so can I! The key is consistency and never giving up. Plugging in to all
trainings, attending GTC and reading Eye on Arbonne stories reinforced
my belief in the company, the industry and myself. I learned that some
people come and go in this business, but they still touch our lives, and
I am so grateful for everyone who has touched mine! To be successful,
you have to find a way, not an excuse. Rejection, fear and hearing “no”
are all part of entrepreneurship, and if I were going to be successful,
this was part of the journey. I had to toughen up a bit, become more
tenacious and roll with the ups and downs. I learned that pleasant persistence
really pays off. I began to realize that I was not doing something to
someone by sharing Arbonne, but rather I had something for someone;
truly a gift! This shift made all the difference for me.
I lost my full-time accounting job in October of 2008. I was so grateful
I had a Plan B, because in that same month, my Arbonne commission
check replaced my full-time income. Arbonne became my Plan A, and
my Why grew as I realized I could help others become successful and
achieve their dreams, all the while building a successful business!
In September of 2009, I earned the Route 66 Challenge Trip hosted by
ENVPs Cecilia Stoll, Linda Parker and Deanna Herrin. These women
are the most generous, positive, friendly women I have ever met. They
have helped thousands become successful and have also been able to
give back in many philanthropic ways. On that trip, it instantly clicked for
me that Arbonne is a great vehicle to help change lives and, therefore,
change the world!
A big thank you to my parents, Ryland and Janice Wright, who have
always taught me to treat others the way I want to be treated and to
work hard. Your unwavering support has meant so much to me — words
can hardly express it. I appreciate and love you!
To my future family — even though I don’t know you yet, you are a big
reason Why I do Arbonne! This business has helped me become a better
version of myself, and I’m glad that is the version you’ll know. I look
forward to all the choices we will have.
A big thank you to all of my friends, family and Preferred Clients, who
continue to support my business and me!
To my amazing upline in Colorado — ENVP Tiffany Bufton, ENVP Lori
Lucero and ERVP Erica Stephens: Your guidance and support has
helped so many. You are incredible women and I am so grateful to call
you my upline and my friends!
