The state show will use the American system of<br />
awards. Only the first 10 placings will be awarded<br />
ribbons based on their comparative performance.<br />
Entering District <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>State</strong> <strong>Horse</strong> <strong>Show</strong>s<br />
To be eligible to participate at the district level: See<br />
chart under Introduction Section.<br />
Members must show at their designated district<br />
4-H horse show <strong>and</strong> receive a purple or blue ribbon<br />
to qualify for the state show in showmanship, Western<br />
pleasure, Western horsemanship, English pleasure,<br />
English equitation, hunter hack, reining, pony<br />
Western pleasure, trail, barrel racing, pole bending,<br />
flag race, pleasure pairs, <strong>and</strong> halter classes.<br />
At district <strong>and</strong> state shows, an exhibitor may not<br />
show more than one horse in a particular class <strong>and</strong><br />
may not enter a class two times. No horse can be used<br />
in the same class twice, including those classes that<br />
offer several options.<br />
There are no district qualifying events for calf roping,<br />
breakaway roping, team roping, costume class,<br />
2-year-old snaffle bit project, or 3-year-old project.<br />
At the <strong>State</strong> show, the 4-H’er must show in exactly<br />
the same classes with the same horse in which<br />
he or she qualified at district show. There will be no<br />
substitutions <strong>and</strong> no exceptions.<br />
At the district show, substitutions may be made<br />
before exhibiting if the horse is identified by May<br />

requirements.)<br />
Due to the limited space available, a maximum of<br />
three horses per exhibitor may be entered <strong>and</strong> shown<br />
at the state 4-H show.<br />
