The Pride Ball
The SHOUT Festival
Other Birmingham LGBT events
The Pride Ball - Birmingham is the biggest event of its kind in
the UK, attracting over 1,000 guests each year. Birmingham is
proud to host such a prestigious night out.
In just the last year, the Pride Ball has raised over £20,000 for
worthwhile causes, including local HIV/LGBT charities.
The event, which is organised by Midlands Zone magazine, has
featured many artists over the years.
In 2012, Queen of the Jungle Stacey Solomon headlined, and
was accompanied by a host of stars, including Sinitta, X Factor
finalist Johnny Robinson, Connie Talbot, Vicky Jackson, The L
Project and various local acts.
Plans for next year’s event, to be held on Friday 22 March 2013,
are already in development. The Ball will once again be held at
the prestigious International Convention Centre.
The event consists of a stunning opening performance, a threecourse
meal and after-dinner live entertainment, followed by a
disco until 1am. The partying then continues in Birmingham’s
Gay Village bars and clubs.
Table reservations are now being taken. For further information,
or to reserve your ticket or table, visit www.prideball.co.uk
The SHOUT Festival, organised and funded by Birmingham
LGBT, is a celebration of Queer Culture, and in 2012 will be
taking place for a fourth consecutive year.
Since 2009, SHOUT has delivered an inclusive and diverse programme
of visual arts, theatre, music, performance, literature and
community activities in order to promote the diversity of the city's
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities, and to raise
the city's profile as both an LGBT and cultural tourist destination.
Boasting a wealth of activity and bringing internationally acclaimed
artists to the region, SHOUT also provides local producers
with the opportunity to be part of a number of commissioned
projects.
In 2011, SHOUT featured over 50 separate events, and performances
from over 100 artists across the West Midlands. Highlights
of the festival included Amy Lamé, Alan Hollinghurst, David
Hoyle, Janis Ian, April Ashley and Fascinating Aida, alongside
some of the most exciting talent from across the UK, including
Sophia Blackwell, Joey Hateley, Joseph Mercier, Zorras and
Mandy Romero.
