Birmingham Pride 2012 would like to warmly welcome everyone to this year’s
event. We are especially proud of this year’s theme, embracing the
international anti-bullying campaign of It Gets Better in an attempt to promote
positive messages to younger people within our community.
As always, every effort has been made to
ensure that we once again have a fantastic
high-profile route through the city centre for
our annual LGBT parade, and we feel that
this year will be our biggest to date.
We are, of course, very grateful to all of our
volunteers, without whom staging the festival
would be virtually impossible.
Community remains central to the festival,
and we are delighted that the parade, village
green and market stalls have remained free
for all to attend and enjoy.
I am confident that those visiting the
entertainment zones this year will be pleased
with the standard of entertainment on offer,
and we feel most strongly that Birmingham
Pride is now one of the best LGBT events in
the UK. To all of you, whatever your reason
for attending Pride, have a happy and safe
weekend.

The City of Birmingham is very pleased to be hosting Birmingham Pride again
this year. It is a lively, colourful and friendly occasion that the people of Birmingham
and visitors can enjoy.
There is so much to see this year, with the
best and most visible parade by far and hundreds
of acts performing on the Community
Village Green, Village Cabaret Stage, Nightingale
Stage and in the Chic Dance Arena. The
Market and Community stalls are hugely popular,
and again we are expecting a record
amount this year for you to enjoy.
Overall Birmingham expects more than
100,000 visitors, and we are proud to be able
to host such a major event in the city. Birmingham
has a tradition throughout the centuries
of welcoming people from many
cultures, religions and backgrounds, and this
has been a major factor in making this great
city such a vibrant and diverse place.
I trust that during this festival all concerned
will find Birmingham to be a happy and hospitable
venue, and that everyone will have a
wonderful weekend.

Pride - one of the largest events of this kind in the country.
As a city we are diverse and vibrant and
have a proud reputation. We welcome all
to the event, which is one of the jewels in
the crown of our events programme. Birmingham
is a city with a wealth of cultural
offering, which helps to strengthen a vibrant
visitor economy.
