Newsletter for Supporters
The Advocacy Center published the first issue of Advocacy Works, a newsletter for
supporters of the agency. The newsletter is available at www.advocacycenter.com.
New Edition of Workshop Catalog Published
The Advocacy Center published a new edition of its catalog for The Center for
Community Education. Several new workshops were featured in the catalog,
including Bullying: Intervention Strategies for Parents and Professionals, Diploma
Options, and Getting and Keeping the First Job.
End the r-word
The Advocacy Center joined with people all over the world to take a stand against
use of use of the r-word on March 2, 2011, the official Spread the Word to End the
Word Day.
Special Education Advocacy Series for Professionals
The Advocacy Center offered its first five-part series for professionals on the topic
of Special Education Advocacy. Professionals attended this series and learned the
information and skills necessary to be effective advocates.
TIES Expands
TIES (Together Including Every Student), a program of The Advocacy Center,
received funding from the Finger Lakes and Western New York Developmental
Disabilities Service Offices to expand its services into new areas. The program
provides natural support from trained volunteers so that students with disabilities
can participate in extracurricular and recreational activities.
