grant programS: feDeral<br />
Federal Pell Grant<br />
> Who is eligible: US citizens and permanent residents enrolled in a degree or certificate program as a matriculated<br />
student.<br />
> How award is determined: Need-based on federal formula; awards range from $200 to $2,675 per semester for<br />
2009-2010.<br />
> How and when to apply: Complete the fAfSA annually as early as possible after January 1 preceding the academic<br />
year. If you list <strong>SUNY</strong> <strong>Adirondack</strong> as one of your college choices on the fAfSA, the financial Aid Office<br />
will receive your fAfSA from the federal processor. A valid fAfSA must be received no later than your last day<br />
of attendance for the academic year.<br />
> Aggregate limits: Students in a degree program may receive Pell for a maximum of 96 attempted credits; students<br />
in a certificate program may receive Pell for a maximum of 47 attempted credits. Also students who<br />
received their first Pell grant after July 1, 2008 are limited to 18 equivalent semester awards.<br />
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)<br />
> Who is eligible: US Citizens and permanent residents enrolled in a degree or certificate program as a matriculated<br />
student. must be enrolled in at least six credits in any given semester at <strong>SUNY</strong> <strong>Adirondack</strong>.<br />
> How award is determined: Need-based on federal formula. Students must be Pell eligible and demonstrate<br />
extraordinary financial need.<br />
> How and when to apply: Complete the fAfSA annually as soon as possible after January 1 preceding the academic<br />
year. funds are limited so apply early.<br />
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)<br />
> Who is eligible: US citizens and eligible non-citizens enrolled in an associate degree or certificate program as<br />
a first-time matriculated student and a recipient of a federal Pell grant. Also, students must be enrolled in at<br />
least six credit hours that are required for your <strong>SUNY</strong> <strong>Adirondack</strong> program in any given semester. Students<br />
must have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study, as defined by the Secretary of Education,<br />
after January 1, 2005. Second-year students must have a cumulative gPA of 3.0 or higher at the end of their<br />
first year to study.<br />
> How award is determined: first-year students are eligible for up to $375 per semester and second-year students<br />
qualify for up to $650 per semester.<br />
> How and when to apply: Complete fAfSA annually as soon as possible after January 1 preceding the academic<br />
year. The Education Department will provide additional details on identifying your rigorous secondary school<br />
program (several options are available) and potential recipients will be evaluated by the Enrollment management<br />
staff.<br />
Note: At this time, it is believed that 2010-2011 will be the 5th and final year for this program.<br />
