<strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® , a technology<br />

Coating, plays a vital role in<br />
today’s foam manufacturing.<br />
The <strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® is a unique product that combines<br />
kraftpaper and a very thin peelable polyethylene film.<br />
This exciting new material solves various production<br />
problems associated with conventional processing<br />
paper or standard polyethylene films.<br />

There are many methods of processing flexible<br />
polyurethane foam and we believe that you will be<br />
using one of the following systems:<br />
In all the above machines, you use paper and/or plastic<br />
to provide the enclosure for the expanding foam.<br />
This means that when the liquid raw materials come<br />
into contact with the paper, the paper absorbs them.<br />
Furthermore at the end of the machine, when you<br />
remove the paper or film from the block, you also<br />
take away a layer of foam. This increases foam waste<br />
and makes disposal of the paper and film difficult.<br />
<strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® technology can prevent all these<br />
problems and will dramatically reduce your costs.<br />
This technology can be successfully applied for the<br />
production of several Polyurethane foam types.<br />
The <strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® already used worldwide by the<br />
major foam producers is designed to run on all<br />
machine types like Beamech, Cannon Viking,<br />
Hennecke and Laader Berg.<br />

Tremendous Cost Savings<br />
<strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® technology offers 5 major advantages:<br />
1. Tremendous reduction in material loss<br />
When polyurethane slabstock buns are produced by<br />
the conventional method, the foam material often<br />
sticks to the paper causing considerable material<br />
loss. Even the use of standard polyethylene films<br />
does not prevent material loss to occur during the<br />
rewinding operation. <strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® eliminates this<br />
problem by rewinding only the kraft paper and leaving<br />
the thin polyethylene film on the bun surface. At the<br />
end of the foaming process the foam bun will present<br />
a smooth surface without any skin loss. Benefits are<br />
remarkable not only in conventional foam grades, but<br />
also in Polyester, High Resilience, TDI and liquid CO2<br />
blown foam. Compared to conventional systems<br />
<strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® provides a superior foam yield.<br />
2. Greater safety from Isocyanate contact<br />
When the kraft paper is peeled away the thin polyethylene<br />
film encloses the foam bun and serves as<br />
an important safety feature:<br />
a) It reduces human contact with Isocyanate<br />
vapours<br />
b) The level of Isocyanate fumes in the working<br />
area has been subject to legislation for many<br />
years, and <strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® is dramatically reducing<br />
this level<br />
3. Cleaner and more efficient work environment<br />
Paper debris and foam waste tends to accumulate<br />
and impede efficiency in ordinary plants where<br />
polyurethane foam is manufactured. But when the<br />
<strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® is used, waste is remarkably reduced<br />
and the plant floor is kept clean and neat to promote<br />
greater efficiency.<br />
4. Improved foam properties<br />
● Atmospheric humidity has a big effect upon foam<br />
characteristics<br />
● When the thin polyethylene film covers a foam bun<br />
the peak temperature it reaches during the curing<br />
period is lower in comparison to a block left exposed.<br />

5. Kraft Paper is reusable even greater savings<br />
When <strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® is used, the Kraft paper never<br />
directly contact the polyurethane. The Kraft paper is<br />
not damaged in any way and can be used again in<br />
any number of valuable ways, such as wrapping<br />
paper, storage or transportation. Yet another way that<br />
<strong>OLMO</strong> Paper ® saves you money!<br />

into contact with the reacting Isocyanate, therefore<br />
it helps to reduce scorching and in extreme cases,<br />
risk of fire<br />
● As a result of lower humidity penetration into the<br />
foam bun a better top to bottom hardness distribution<br />
is normally obtained<br />
● The Polyethylene film will not allow moisture to<br />
penetrate and destroy the Isocyanate, improving<br />
the hardness value. This will dramatically reduce<br />
the need of increasing Isocyanate index in the<br />
humid season<br />
● Thanks to the impermeable nature of the polyethylene<br />
film the foam bun will not yellow as a<br />
consequence of UV light exposure
