Die KANSA Coreen Fourie Eco-Avontuur, 'n
5km stap en/of draf is 'n fondsinsamelingsprojek
ten bate van KANSA. Die wedloop word by
die St Blaize-grot by die Punt in Mosselbaai
Hoewel die meeste hengel-plekke die
jaloerse geheim van die plaaslike inwoners
is, is daar heelwat plekke wat reeds bekendheid
verwerf het vir die goeie vangste wat
daar gemaak word.
Veral gewild is die skuimgate van die Poort
tot by die hawegebied. Hier vang die ouens
groot mosselkrakers wat vanaf November,
tydens en na ‘n Suid-oostewind ‘n karp of
siffie nader aan die kant kom soek. Staan
maar vas met ‘n sterk stok, katrol en lyn want
hierdie kragtige visse vat vas en word net
met ‘n goeie stukkie gespook geland!
Wes van die hawe (Munro’s Baai en
Santos-strand) was baie hengelaars al
verbaas oor die mooi gespikkelde knorders
(grunters) wat in die stil water op ‘n ligte
lyntjie, met ‘n hoekie en flentertjie aas
aangebied. Deelnemers spring weg vanaf

Die Swift Engineering Oujaarsdraffie word
aangebied by die amfiteater in Hartenbos.

tydens laagwater. Daar word sonder 'n
horlosie gedraf of gestap. Die persoon wat sy
of haar tyd naaste aan korrek voorspel, is die

Mosselbaai is deur die jare bekend vir die baie vis-spesies wat langs die
kuslyn aan die hengelaar se aas knibbel. Hier word ‘n hengelaar se arms
maklik te kort as die storie oorvertel word van die vis wat die kole gehaal het.

elke hengelaar met sterk bene wat kranse
kan klim, se droom. Dit is egter ‘n baie
gevaarlike gebied wat slegs deur diegene
wat die gebied goed ken, besoek behoort te
word. Moet asseblief nie onnodig kanse
waag nie.

Great Brak
Spring is in the air. Undoubtedly a precursor
for a wonderful and festive summer,
and the time is ticking towards swimsuit
season as well. As thousands of holiday
makers frequent the beaches, support the
trade and drink in the sun of the Southern
Cape, the organisers of the 9th annual
Great Brak Grabadoo will be checking and
double-checking final details for the run,
walk and ride being held on 31 December.
For nine years, locals and visitors alike
have come to know the famous orange
t-shirts of this popular family fun race. It is
the biggest cycle race in the Southern
Cape this time of the year with, on
average, 1 000 participants every year.
This fact is especially important for all
those cyclists tackling the annual PnP
Argus cycle race, wanting to get in some
much needed kilometres in a safe and
controlled environment before March
2012.
Whether you are a mountain biker, a
runner, a road biker or just a casual walker
- this race is just perfect for you to to start
the New Year afresh.
Runners or walkers can enter to take part
in the 4.8/9.6 km, whilst mountain bikers
can choose 15, 35 or even 70km routes.

Road bikers can choose between the 20 or
40km routes.
All the routes traverse the picturesque area
surrounding Great Brak River, and those in
the know will tell you that this sleepy town is
one of the most beautiful scenic splendours
along the Garden Route, and that there is
no better way to get up close and personal
with its charm than when your tackies hit
the tar or you pedal for pleasure.
Each participant receives a medal, South
Magazine and Mithcum Products.
Things are really hotting up in the Southern
Cape and all around the whispers of a
bumper holiday season is starting to
combine into a great big festive season
buzz. Excitement is in the air and it's all
systems go for another wonderfully fun
family day at the Great Brak Grabadoo.

Mossel Bay Yacht
Mossel Bay Yacht and Boat Club is situated in
a bay with the most amazing sailing waters and
easy, safe launching facilities. The Yacht Club
caters for sailors and non-sailors alike, with
easy access to the beach and restaurants, and
is conveniently close to most of Mossel Bay's
site-seeing attractions. The club has a walk-on
marina inside the harbour. Although all berths
are privately owned, there are normally
sufficient absentee members to enable visitors
to find a berth. The walk-on’s have design
limitations and cannot normally cater for boats
in excess of 16 tons or 15 metres LOA. Larger
boats may request a quay berth from Portnet
or make use of one of a number of swing
moorings in front of the Club in Munro Bay.
Alternatively, good sand anchorage in Munro
Bay is safe in most conditions. Mooring is safe
for south-westerly winds, but uncomfortable in
strong south-easters. Prior contact with the

the marina. If the Club cannot be raised, the

Ablutions with hot water are available at the

More about the Club
The Boggomsbaai Golf Club is 26 years old and
is situated in Boggomsbaai, 30 km on the Cape
Town side of Mossel Bay. It is a 9 hole course
with 18 tees and is a unique golfing experience
due to the sand greens (a mixture of sand and
oil is used to form the putting surfaces). The
course is extremely eco friendly as no chemicals
or major disturbance of fauna and flora is
allowed and the fairways are totally dependant
on rainfall only.
Dolphin’s Creek Golf Estate
This nine hole, par 36 executive course
welcomes visitors. Rental trolleys, rental clubs
and a pro shop, bar and halfway house are
