Northern BYRDS Success!

“I thought you might all like to know that our Northern BYRDS enjoyed many successes this
weekend at the Keysoe u25s Competition!
On the Saturday a number of the regions BYRDS riders cleaned up in the squad tests with
wins in the C, B an A squad tests!
Hattie Walker-Smith was placed first in the C Squad test on the amazing Jon Boy George.
Georgina Jackson also finished 2nd in the C squad test on the Sunday. This is a really great
achievement for the girls who are both riding relatively new horses.
Victoria Maw came first in the B squad on both days which is a massive achievement.
Alex Hellings has rocketed up to A squad in recent months, winning the class on Saturday. She
was closely followed by another Northern rider Roxy Shipley, who was placed 3rd in the A
squad class - a great achievement for such a new partnership.
It was almost a clean sweep from our Northern riders - with Jessica Sanderson finishing 2nd in
the Fledgelings squad test on the Sunday with her lovely little pony Chico - good work Jess!
The Northern region also had many other successes in BD and FEI classes over the
weekend:
Alex Hellings had a great time after winning the A squad, she went on to be placed 6th in FEI
pony team test with 68.6%, and 3rd in the Pony Freestyle with 69.94%.
Our other A squad riders Roxy Shipley also went on to finish 11th in the Junior team with
62.8%. Her sister Beth Shipley also finished 11th with 65.7% in the FEI Pony Team test.
Northern GB rider Erin Williams smashed the FEI Pony Team test on Saturday with 75%! She
then went on to win the FEI Junior Team test with 71.1%. Elspeth Day finished 3rd in the FEI
Junior Team test with 65.3%.
Emma Corbett had success in the Young rider Individual and Team test, finishing 2nd (68.8%)
and 9th (6.67%) respectively.
Cont:

Gen Walters had a great time winning both Medium Restricted classes on Saturday and
Sunday with 64.41% and 63.51%.
Emma Jablonski came home with a double win in the Advance Medium classes along with 4 th &
6 th place in the same class
Sophie Young won the Elementary Restricted class on Sunday with 64.38%.
