4 th & 5th MAY 2013<br />

PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY<br />

Thank you so much for your interest in our BYRDS residential camp this year. Our camps are always well<br />

supported so please apply in good time to avoid disappointment.<br />

“So, here we are another one for you all to enjoy!”<br />

We have been so lucky to secure the expertise of International Coach David Hunt who is Director of Training<br />

at <strong>British</strong> <strong>Dressage</strong>. He needs no introduction whatsoever & for those of you that haven’t witnessed him in<br />

action all I can say it is a real eye opener and it will have you wanting to tack up your horse and get training,<br />

training, training!! David will be with us on the Saturday evening and work with Ami Maclean & Richard<br />

<strong>Barrett</strong> with their beautiful horses.<br />

Camp will be held at Addington Manor EC, Nr.Buckingham, Buckinghamshire MK18 2JR from the evening of<br />

Friday 3rd May to Sunday 5th May. If you would like to take a look at their superb facilities etc. please visit<br />

On the Friday you will need to arrive at Addington between 3pm to 6pm. There will be a stable manager on site<br />

who will direct you to your stable & once your horse is settled in you will need to come along to the cafe &<br />

register your arrival with me. Your bridal number and times for Saturday and Sunday will be available. We will<br />

all meet up in the VIP suite at 7.30pm for your welcome drink, nibbles & debrief for the weekend, and our 2012<br />

prize giving.<br />

<strong>COACHES</strong><br />

We have the very best coaches on hand to help you over the weekend. We have chosen coaches that are<br />

friendly, knowledgeable, fun & above all want you to enjoy your horse to the best of its ability as much as you<br />

do! They are all very experienced and believe me they have seen it all and really do coach ALL LEVELS.<br />

<strong>Nicky</strong> <strong>Barrett</strong><br />

<strong>Nicky</strong> <strong>Barrett</strong> is a registered <strong>British</strong> <strong>Dressage</strong> Coach and runs monthly<br />

Central Region coaching sessions at her super base with indoor and<br />

outdoor arenas in Winchfield, Hampshire. As well as being a much<br />

sought-after coach, <strong>Nicky</strong> is a list 1 judge and has won national titles at<br />

every level from novice to grand prix as well as numerous international<br />

grand prix wins. She has coached young riders to medal position and<br />

trains all levels of rider from preliminary to international grand prix. <strong>Nicky</strong><br />

trains with David Hunt.


Carol Bennitt (BHSI)<br />

Henry Boswell<br />

Carol Bennitt is a registered <strong>British</strong> <strong>Dressage</strong> Coach and runs monthly<br />

Central Region coaching sessions at her facilities in Ivinghoe Aston,<br />

Buckinghamshire. Carol currently competes “Candini” who she has<br />

trained to GP level, and is actively competing at PSG and Inter I. They<br />

have won at several Premier League shows and competed at the CDI in<br />

Hartpury, as well as competing at the BD Nationals for the last four years<br />

at PSG and Inter 1. Carol also has “Wise Guy” who she is competing at<br />

Advanced Medium level. Carol regularly trains with Carl Hester.<br />

Henry Boswell is a registered <strong>British</strong> <strong>Dressage</strong> Coach and runs monthly<br />

Central Region coaching sessions at his base at Radway Equestrian<br />

Centre, Radway, Warwickshire. Henry regularly trains with Carl Hester.<br />

Henry has competed at 5 P/Jnr/ YR European championships.<br />

Won 2 European Team Bronze medals.<br />

Won 2 National championships.<br />

Competed International GP.<br />

During 2012 won 3 classes at PSG and above at Premier league<br />

shows.<br />

Workshops<br />

Saturday: Heather Hide of Neue Schule bits’s will focus on “all things bit & mouth” related. Heather is<br />

passionate about bitting and has been selected specifically with this in mind. Over the course of the weekend<br />

you will be able to book a private one to one bitting consultation with Heather.<br />

Sunday: (TBC) Joyce Head, List 2 Judge and Central Region Judges Delegate, will provide some advice and<br />

guidance on how to improve your test riding and results. Joyce will use DVD’s and commentary to help you<br />

understand how you can improve your test results and achieve every possible mark. The workshops will cover<br />

all levels of tests relevant to the group.<br />

Saturday & Sunday: Isabel Harker of Spillers will be available to provide individual nutritional consultations.<br />

Each consultation takes around 10/15 mins for each horse/owner where the horse will be assessed, weighed<br />

using a portable weigh bridge and provide nutritional advice if required. Everyone will receive a record card<br />

and an information pack which includes discount vouchers for Spillers products.<br />

<strong>British</strong> <strong>Dressage</strong> official photographer, Kevin Sparrow will be present all weekend. Kevin will join us on<br />

Friday evening and you will be able to book in with him if you would like anything specific other than test<br />

riding photographs.


Stabling<br />

Superb permanent and temporary stabling is available to us and the cost is £65 for the two nights including<br />

shavings beds. For hook up, etc. please advise on your application form attached herein. PLEASE NOTE<br />

ALL STABLING APPLICATIONS & QUERIES ABOUT STABLING ARE TO BE SENT DIRECTLY<br />

TO ADDINGTON.<br />

When you arrive on the Friday you will be shown to your allocated stable and collect anything you have preordered.<br />

You will need to pay a £10 clean stable deposit which will be repaid to you before you leave on<br />

Sunday, once the Stable Manager has checked your box. Once settled you will need to register with me in the<br />

cafe.<br />

You will need to bring your own feed, hay, mucking out tools and water buckets.<br />

We are limited on places so please send me a deposit of £50 to secure your place. Full balances will be due no<br />

later than 31 st March which is the closing date. Once your deposit or balance has been received please be<br />

advised that refunds will only be made upon receipt of a vet’s certificate or a doctor’s note where a refund of<br />

50% will be made providing it is before the closing date. If withdrawals are made after the closing date NO<br />

refund is due.<br />

What do I get for my money?<br />

Welcome drink & nibbles on the Friday evening at our debrief meeting at 7.30pm, three mounted coaching<br />

sessions, one test, two lectures, one to one consultation with Spillers, one to one consultation with Neue Schule<br />

Bits, entry to David Hunt gala evening to include Richard <strong>Barrett</strong> & Ami Mclean demo where you are welcome<br />

to bring along friends, etc, foc, music in the upstairs bar afterwards.<br />

Squad Tests<br />

Fitted riding clothes please (no baggy sweatshirts and hoodies), competition dress is not required, and horses do<br />

not need to be plaited, horse boots and bandages should be removed. No points will be awarded. Please note<br />

that tests may be commanded if you wish. Whips and spurs are permitted.<br />

Who can go to camp?<br />

ANYONE FROM ANY REGION at any level! In Central Region we pride ourselves on training everyone<br />

from riders that have only just started to learn including non-members right through to Grand Prix riders. No<br />

horse under four years old may take part. Riders must be aged twenty five or under. Provided you can walk,<br />

trot and canter then this camp is for you. The horses will come in all shapes and sizes from the faithful old<br />

family pony through to those aiming for a place at PSG level on the teams. It will be fun, informative and you<br />

will make many friends. All riders under the age of 18 need to have an adult accompany and stay with them for<br />

the weekend.<br />

Parents are more than welcome to spectate at the ridden sessions and they may also attend the lectures & the<br />

Saturday evening entertainment free of charge. There will be an additional charge of £5 for non-riders if they<br />

wish to partake in the nibbles and drink on the Friday evening.<br />

Dogs<br />

Addington Manor EC do not allow dogs around the arenas, walkways, stables etc. you are however allowed to<br />

have them with you in the lorry park provided it is kept on a lead at all times and you clean up after him. This<br />

is a strict policy – no exceptions.


Lorries & Trailers<br />

You will be met on the lorry park on Friday from 3pm until 6pm and will be shown where to park your lorry or<br />

trailer. There is electrical hook up for a fee, refer to stabling form.<br />

Camping<br />

You are allowed to camp at Addington Manor EC free of charge.<br />

Showers & Toilets<br />

There will be facilities available to us 24 hours a day<br />

Cafe<br />

Opening hours:-<br />

Friday, 3pm until 9.30pm<br />

Saturday, 7.30am until 10pm<br />

Sunday, 7.30am until 4pm<br />

Hot and cold food is available for purchase all weekend. The bar will be open on the Friday and Saturday<br />

evening.<br />

Finally, please remember this is a fun & active weekend, open to all where we can all join together in one<br />

common theme and that is the desire to learn more about our sport, our fellow riders and of course spend quality<br />

time with our beloved horses.<br />
