Class Description: The design of this scarf is simply amazing! Learn a technique that actually<br />

pleats the scarf with a beautiful design throughout. A perfect gift for that special someone or<br />

hmmm…maybe you? Green Mountain Spinnery has done it again.<br />

Level: Advanced Beginner<br />

Materials: 2-3 skeins of fingering weight yarn, size 4 or 5 needles <strong>depending</strong> on gauge, stitch<br />

markers, tapestry needle; pattern.<br />

PRAIRIE EARTH AND SKY COLORWORK CARDIGAN DESIGNED BY KATHLEEN TAYLOR<br />

Class Description: Yes, you CAN knit a colorwork cardigan! Celeste will take you through the<br />

steps to ensure a successful project, from proper fair isle swatching to steeking and picking up<br />

for button bands! Hand-reinforced steeks as well as machine reinforced steeks will be covered.<br />

Materials: Cascade 220 Solids & Heathers in your choice of colors; 36” sample used 4 skeins<br />

background color and 1 skein each of 8 different foreground colors ranging from green-yelloworange-red;<br />

size 7 dpns, 16” circular AND 24” or 29” circular needles; size 8 dpns, 16” circular<br />

AND 24” or 29” circular needles; post-it notes; Fearless Fair Isle book by Kathleen Taylor<br />

(available in store); 6 stitch markers.<br />

Homework: Select your yarns and come to class ready to swatch! If possible, read through the<br />

introduction of Taylor’s book – it’s full of tips and tricks we’ll be using in class!<br />

REVERSIBLE STRIPE SCARF<br />

Class Description: Come learn this great knitting trick and your friends will be amazed. You’ll<br />

be making a scarf with horizontal stripes on one side and vertical stripes on the other using two<br />

colors. This scarf will make a great holiday gift this season.<br />

Level: All levels welcome<br />

Materials: A self-striping yarn (i.e. Noro) with a complementary solid color (200 yards of each);<br />

size 8 or 9 circular needle (24” works well). Pattern included.<br />

SOCKS 101<br />

Class Description: Learn to knit top-down socks on double pointed needles. Selection of yarn,<br />

fitting, the long-tail cast on, ssk, k2tog and the kitchener stitch will be taught. This is a<br />

wonderful, portable project that takes the angst out of waiting. Oh, and by the way – it’s a little<br />

bit addictive!<br />

Materials: Approx. 440 yards sock yarn; size 2 dpns; Knitting Pure & Simple pattern (in-store).<br />

Class Description: Think hand-knit mittens are the warmest in the world? THINK AGAIN!<br />

Thrummed mittens are hand-knit with yarn and scraps of roving, or thrums, to create the most<br />

unbelievably well-insulated mittens you’ve ever tried! A MUST for the Northeast!<br />

Materials: Approx. 200 yards worsted-weight yarn; 3-4oz wool roving; size 7 double-pointed<br />

needles; pattern provided by instructor.<br />
